for example my lv28 SS rolled a
Superior Red Shirt
+2 jumping
Deflect ball chance +3%
(would this be considered good?)

1. at which level should i start trying to roll for one?
2. what constitutes a great piece?
3. wiki mentioned i can buy any piece, where do i find it?

1. 31, 41, and/or 51. The important thing to remember is to set a limit in advance. So maybe you decide that you will only roll three times and if you don't find anything worth keeping then you'll wait until the next 10 levels.

2. A great piece is something with +3 in your main attribute and/or +5% in your preferred % modifier. For instance, a blank +3 speed is nice because you can pay bonus tokens to upgrade that with a +5% suffix. Meanwhile a blank +5% make tackle piece is also nice because you can pay bonus tokens to upgrade that with +3 speed. If you find both on the same piece, then that's hitting the jackpot.

3. You can build advanced equipment by clicking on the body part you want and the color, then click on the attribute bonus you want, and then click on the bonus ability you want. This is the most expensive way of getting advanced equipment, but is useful if you've already found two pieces through shopping and want to make sure you get the perfect thing for your player.

edit:
And no, I wouldn't buy that piece you mentioned.

Would you wait until lvl 61? I hear a lot of people say that. You get the ability to see the most AEQs

True, but for my OT i rolled a few times at 31 and found all 3 AEQ's i needed for him.

Sometimes its just the luck of the roll.

I don't think there is anything wrong with waiting until level 61. You certainly have a better chance to get that perfect AE roll by waiting. The main reason I like rolling earlier is that you can plan your build better with respect to BTs and multi-training.

The earlier you know exactly how many BT you need in total for a build the better. Then you can optimize training (possibly multitrain longer) and know exactly when you need to switch to light. I'd hate rolling at 61 just because you are way less flexible in the amount of BT you can earn and rolling badly at 61 would screw you way more than rolling bad at 31.

You get +3 or +5% fairly often at 31/41, almost never both on one piece though so rolling at 61 might have more jackpot potential but then you are also locked on those abilities, I usually never add the part missing to an AEQ piece till the end unless it's a no-brainer. On my level 67 DE I have 2 upgraded pieces with +3 stats base and nothing else on yet, so I can choose exactly what fits the sim at plateau.

this

I have gotten +5% PQ pieces for QB's at level 31, then just add the +3 throwing to it and then you know exactly the BT you need to finish off a 3 or 4 AE build
