why do some owners just control all dots? I get that it's because they dominate, but why isn't that cheating? it doesn't give other teams a chance.

its the same as a normal team except less hassle from people who like to jump from team to team or enjoy whining about everything.
i say if you have the flex to do it, go for it. Then you can do some pretty neat stuff by not having to change your roster around every off season.

very true, but what about those guys that can't do that? the people that don't. they usually get dominated unless they're good as a team.
gotta have good agents on your team i guess. Make friends with reliable agents, and you can make a pretty solid team.

As someone that has one such team I can tell you this is a combination of GLB doing a terrible job of bringing in new users and networks killing off what was left of the FA market. The userbase has dwindled down so much that the FA market has dried up to the point that recruiting is an absolute nightmare.

You seem to think that this is just 100% an advantage. It also has it's downsides. If the owner is DC and OC as well, it takes a whole lot of work, and the old "two heads are better than one" maxim also means that creativity might be lower with only one person behind the wheel.
The extended amount of time required to handle a team alone would also mean some things might be done in a rush, which would eventually cause mistakes.
I don't think a single one-man team has made the WL, although I do remember one reaching the pros some seasons ago if my memory doesn't fail me.
My personal answer would be "Cause it's fun!". You get a team built exactly as you like, and with the build quality you want. And no one would whine or complain. And the players would be built exactly for the role they would perform. Trust me, if to me 2000 dollars wouldn't matter much, I'd spend it here and get my own team. Unfortunately, I'm a scrooge, and thinking about spending that in a game feels like stabbing myself in the back (contorcionism bonus).

plus, it has its own negatives. It can make it tougher to find coordinators, so you end up doing *everything* yourself. when you hit the competitive leagues and have to gameplan for both sides of the ball in the playoffs, it can be a huge hassle.
yeah, they'll almost always be better than 95% of the other teams because no one is going to spend that much money unless they know what they're doing. But it's by no means an unfair advantage, and it's not too hard for those of us without crazy flex points to build good dots, learn to coordinate, make friends and connections, and get on a good team who will be just as competitive.
Plus, I'd imagine that their forums are pretty boring
.
that all said, everything Dub J and Kop said is true.
Edit: yeah, pretty much what Hag said, he was just faster than me in posting

Don't know if that was supposed to be a dig against me, but recruiting is much worse now than it used to be. We are in an age of super organized teams that are bonded together from rookie until plateau. There is no margin for error now. After a few seasons if someone has a few dots with your team and decides to retire or leave the game and you are swimming upstream to find replacements.
Back in the day we didn't have networks and most teams used the FA market to fill their rosters. Now it's basically build a perfect team in rookie and hope no one leaves until you hit plateau.

If you can stomach the first half of the season you can do this and have success without boosting or buying CE in PW.

partially a dig...but i disagree with your comments for the most part.
Yes a ton of good dots are tied into Networks and sure it could be a pain to recruit dots, but then you have people like Ezra that have no problem going outside of networks to fill up 3 pro level teams...and then he does the same for other peoples teams because people just like him for some reason.
Also, fwiw I could have gotten sick dots several times over for some of my teams had those teams not been tied to a Network...
