Pretty Much for the bottom 16 teams who finish in their conference. You know how there are the playoffs for the top 16 and the winners are the champions? How about having a consolation tournament where the bottom 16 teams compete for the loser's side. Not much better than playing for the championship, but beats playing beyond useless scrimmage games .

Not sure if it's been talked about or not but I'd rather have a consolation tournament that means something that doesn't rather than just playing scrimmage games and you don't get anything about, with Consolation tournaments it would still be worth planning tactics and stuff.

the way i see it is if you dont make playoffs, your coordinators get an early break. can probably put together a new AI since they didnt make playoffs...

not against the idea but i doubt anyone would actually gameplan for this.

While I do realize the consolation tournament is still nothing compared to the playoffs, but, GLB isn't really real life, so I think (of course, i think), that all teams should be in a playoff - for a championship or no championship. Coordinators could actually try new tactics - despite maybe only getting 24-48 hours to develop some, but still enough. and if those tactics work and your team wins, you can further explore new tactic options and maybe even influential to next season's success. Of course if you lose during the consolation tournament it probably means that a tactic needs to be worked.

Plus half of the teams in the CT get eliminated halfway through the 2nd round so everyone has the equal chance of winning or losing. You also get 8+ days to test tactics in friendlys and test runs and next season's exhibition games, so I don't really see how late of a break the coordinators get. the losers in the first round get the longer break.

Just start some shit with a random non-playoff team in your league and schedule a bunch of ranked scrims against them.

It would just be a regular scrimmage game then like the current useless scrimmage games during the playoffs. I'd rather be playing for something that means something (consolation of course).

Thing is, with the current user tournaments, it's just user created, not GLB created playoffs. I would like GLB - sanctioned Conference Consolation tournament. Plus everything's automatic. with user created Playoffs no telling what could happen. Teams don't schedule a scrimmage, times were confused when scheduling, with GLB organzied conference consolation tournaments, everything is automatic and every team in the tournament is forced to play that "playoff" game.

Whats the difference between a non-prize consolation bracket and just playing scrimmages? Seems the same to me.

I like this idea a tiny bit. As long as this is the case it couldn't really hurt.

No. That's not what I'm talking about, at all.

The 16 teams that are left out of the playoffs will have a consolation tournament. No where am I talking about the teams that get beat in the playoffs have consolation games.

He was talking about the teams in the championship playoffs. He thought I was saying the teams that get beat in those games play consolation games. What I want is the 16 teams that get left out of the championship playoffs play in a consolation tournament.
