I am still a little fuzzy unsure on this one.

If I have lead blocker on my Center, does that give him a boost to "blocking and pushing defenders" on normal blasts and dives to the gaps to his left and right?

Or does he have to be pulling and "lead blocking" on a sweep or pitch to get this benefit?

And does the boost to "blocking" boost making the block, holding the block or both? Pancakes?

I believe this is what Lead Blocker is the keyword is "Lead", so you have to be blocking in the lead for it work.

anybody close enough to the runner and ahead of him, or who is specifically coded to "lead block," like the FB on many plays. 90% of the time it's the latter case that's important for skills and such.

It works when they are doing lead block behavior like pulling - if the center is blocking a defender straight in front of them, then no, he will not get a bonus. If he is pulling for an outside run, then yes he will.
