I have been thinking, since money is now useless in the game, each new team gets $1,500,000 to spend on player finances, etc. but you have to manage the stadium construction, etc as well, which is why new team owners will fail on their first team ownership.

My suggestion?

Take away the salary cap, and player money all together. Replace it with the points cap. If money is useless now, we're wasting our team cash on players that could've been used for stadium construction. Give each team 1,000,000 (or a better number) in cap space. So instead of negotiating players for money, you will be negotiating players for points. Players can use these points to upgrade training, bonus tokens, etc. Maybe 5 points equal one bonus token or such(just an example).

With this, negotiating actually means something rather than just offering players money and knowing that they'll either accept it or reject it. Players actually have to think now, if I go here, I'll have a better team but less points. But if I go here, I have a lesser quality team but I can get more points.

We're probably too late in beta to work on this idea but it sure would make negotiating players and team cash a hell of a lot more interesting.

Ok well almost useless but our money is still being wasted on players, it could've been used on stadium construction and such.

you can build an entire stadium in 3 GLB seasons - teams don't need more cash

You're missing the point. I'm saying take away the salary cap and player contract related $$$ and replace it with a points cap. Players can use these points to improve their player in some way.

no, this would just turn into a few players in skill positions being pumped up even more.

Ok, maybe a lesser starting number for teams. But currently, players cant really do anything with money so I thought this would help, with points you can build your player. I'm not talking about skill points, I'm talking about bonus tokens, training points, etc

Even with what you are suggesting it still would end up being a way for people to get a extra edge over others. So IMO this isn't needed at all.

How will this gain an edge over people? Each team gets a set # points to spend on players however they want. They still have to stay under the cap. From what I see, this gives everyone a chance to improve the same as everyone else.

Ok i do see a small flaw in this but it can be fixed with good thinking.

I see this bringing the same problem as when player cash was useful. Star players will demand higher salaries and we're going to get people being divas again. anything but that, please. Not a terrible idea, but that's the last thing I want to see.

Don't most players ask for more money? And some players reject your contract offer even if you give them more money.

I'm talking way back when money was used to buy equipment. Any time a player can get straight up better from pay, they will be terrible to deal with.

Basically this. Some people will demand a higher salary and will thus get more points and will, in return, get better than other players, and then demand even higher salaries.



On second thought, +1 so I buy a team and give my players ridiculous point salaries and get a sweet jump start!

First of all, anything that is a permanent bonus to a player, like what you've post above, is NGTH. The idea is that it promotes farm teams giving out large amounts of points to a few positions to boost them for later. So only temporary things (like moral), which only effect the players immediate season, are allowed.

Second of all... what's the difference between using points vs using cash? It doesn't matter what you call it, it is what it is. If you want to argue that the "points" are automatic each season, then I'll counter with the fact that some people actually do enjoy being CFO, and it does make their job much more "fun" to have it with money that is constantly being earned rather than just random points that are given out at the beginning of the season
