Most teams run a 3 man line. When they run the 4 man line it's generally to stop the run. The DT position seems to be the real "NT".

I think it would make sense to allow the D-Line General SA to apply to DTs as well as NTs.

I thought there was only a NT on the 3 man d line.

am I losing my mind here?

100% sure in a 4-3, the strong side DT is the NT, in a 3-4 the DT is called the NT.

Thats how we do it here in the great white north.

Correct. But generally the "run stuffer" goes with D-line General.

This suggestion allows the DT to have D-Line General and allow use of the NT1 spot who wouldnt have D-Line General.

The strongside DT in a 4-3 is the UT which generally lines up as a 3 technique which is the outside shoulder of the OG or the gap between the OG and OT. The NT generally lines up as the weakside 1 technique. Between the C and OG.

Might as well make it work for safeties and CB's too. That way you might see an effect.

+1 to the OP

I wouldn't say this is a terrible suggestion, but I would say the OP makes a terrible case for it.

we always plugged our DTs in the A gaps. idk whatever.

i guess it could work for either DT, one with the higher SA while on the field is the triggerman.

the problem would be if 2 guys have DLG--then only one would count? the highest?

Tbh, I would say that it should work for both DT and NT and work like Defense General does for ILBs
