In another thread we are reminiscing about past seasons and the general concensus from those that are old enough to remember is that building dots in the early seasons was muc more fun, more immediate, than the slow building process we are now forced into if we want to compete at a high level.

That being said, maybe this would bring us back there . . .

Each season of a player's build there is a limit to how many SP's can be put into any one attribute, and all skill point must be spent by the end of the current season. You could actually use the current caps as guideline . . . season one you can't add point past 48 . . . season 2 it woould be 60 . . . and so on . . .

This would force agents to diversify builds across the build process rather than aiming for final builds. It would make the SIM more balanced and competitive across the levels. And it would add immediacy back into the game . . . what do I do to make my dots perform better today, rather than in 6 months . . .

Guys would still follow the same patterns based on algs and sa's/aeq still wouldn't be touched in the process.

So force us to circle cap attributes every season?

meh...then everyone would just build the same exact way.

It might be worse than it is now in that aspect.

Would make lower level play more bearable to watch and might make it better, but would make the Pro/WL less entertaining.

If everyboyd was on the same playing field, and the SIM was adjusted, I don't see how it would be less entertaining.

I think it is an interesting idea but I would suggest that 1 capping is not the 1st seasons limit because you can 1 cap an attribute VERY fast with 3 boosts before the 1st season. Id also suggest the idea of cap by season only last the first 2 or 3 seasons of a players career.

This would slow down the idea of this "slow build" to build for your end game but would not COMPLETLY limit you and force everyone to build the same.

Interesting concept and as a concept rather than a detailed proposal I +1 it.

Another way to get there might be to add a new concept to the game which would be seasonal SPs. In addition to your SPs you get now, you get X...Focus Points call them, FPs. These are spent on attributes and SAs exactly like SPs but they add plusses like equipment, rather than actually raising the attribute. X would be something interesting based upon age. Could be higher or lower as your dot increases in age - lower to make the FPs mainly just keep the young dots more interesting or to keep FPs, or higher to make them be impactful in every age range (since higher costs would exist to raise more developed builds).

FPs are reset to zero each day 48.

Example a level 37 player might get 30 FPs, which would allow a Center who has all his real SPs in Strength and Blocking and first capped his agility and speed to get agility and speed to the second cap for the season, or perhaps to raise stamina and confidence to the first instead, or maybe get some SAs online. Or maybe it could be 60 FPs so he could do most of these things, or 90 so he could do all or more.

Since its temporary it would have no effect on long term builds. And since it would vary by age, if we do not want it a part of the higher level play, it doesn't have to be.

+1 would make this game more entertaining and appeal to newer players (which we need if we want this game to survive)

-1 If you want to build a "Play Now" Player... so be it. You can still do that, Just don't cry when you get up in Pro and are a Career Back-Up at best the rest of your Career. Or Retire them around Lvl. 55-60 and start over,lol.

No -- if you make me build like you've describe, I'd quit. I should be able to ruin my build if that's what I want to do. The OP's idea would most likely create more cookie-cutter builds than we have now, not less.
