These type of returns happen way too often: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2023292&pbp_id=7156642

'Successful' kick returns are ones of the above variety, as opposed to ones where the returner would essentially find a seam. The kickoff team needs to hold their lanes much longer before collapsing.

-1 Returns are too few and far between already with the massive special teams nerf last season. Even if the mechanic by which they are happening is less than ideal I'd hate for the last possibility of returns being snuffed out.

That blocking unit was horrible... you set up a depth chart that poorly the returner should be nailed, fumble, and returned for coverage td.

I dont want to intentionally have to set up a shit blocking depth chart to try and score tds on STs like this. Seems most WL returner tds this season are of this variety (that or a couple where the returner broke/faked a shit ton of tackles).

yeah, i've notice too that many TDs are where the coverage blows right thru the blockers then converge to the inside. one of the easiest solutions would be for the coverage to actually slow down at a certain point and get into containment areas where they still can get inside but not so early.that they have no outside containment

show that to me more consistently and I wholly would agree...the only other ones I have seen are Seem TDs.
As is, Kick and Punt Return blocking is pretty sad.

I think it'd actually help KRs, tbh. The return aspect would be more natural, leading for superior coverage/blocking to win out.

another crappy return. no way all those outside guys should be inside the hash marks that far away from the KR

It's not necessarily nerfing returns. The KR should still be able to find a lane. If coverage is good then of course he won't have a good lane, but with poor coverage the returner should have the advantage. The way it is now they just run around all the guys who have converged in too early or bully their way with fakes/broken tackles.

for the love of... how many special teams nerfs will it take to make you people happy?

Plus, you do realize that lane discipline breaks down in real life, too, and when it does, it creates a "seam". this is EXACTLY what happened here, the seam was on the outside.

the defenders on that play were unblocked, and got run past. If anything needs to be nerfed its the ability to avoid an open field block.

All the TD's I have seen involve 7 or 8 gunners collapsing on the wedge, getting tangled up with each other, and the returner bounces outside. I would only expect that kind of play from 5 and 6 year old kids.
