If you have forum access control then you should get an alert to notify you when someone is requesting an invite.

I know why you want this.
It might go wrong however if 20 people have forum access control, all receive an alert, and then 19 people go to the invites screen only to find out that they have been beaten to it.
Maybe you'd have to define which people who can give forum access receive the notifications?

Or you could also have an alert when someone joins the forum, thus telling you "nevermind".

or when you go into that private forum, the "forum access" tab could go red or green if someone is asking to join instead of sending you an actual alert.
that way people with access control can just see that coloured box and bam, accept/reject the agent wanting to join without sending alerts to everyone.

Better, the button for the private forum could flash in your general forums list as well.
