I believe that in the real world both college and pros now kick-off from the 35 yard line. It would be good for GLB to follow-course. You'd see more touchbacks and would get more realistic starting points for drives.

at what levels would they be more realistic? the upper levels already seem pretty real life like. ST has already been nerfed enough. i would expect another 50%+ of KR to be unreturnable at the higher levels.

I've never been to the higher levels, so I can't say, but in nearly all the sims I've seen the kick-offs dont seem to go deeper than the 10 yard line. It seems like there is never a touch back and that doesn't feel right to me.

Maybe I don't have good kickers on my teams, but I thought that since 35 is what is in "real" football it might be good to have the sim reflect reality.

Not only because it makes sense

But because the OPoster has paid his dues.

This would be a horrible idea. There are already plenty of kickoffs that achieve TB's, let's not make KR/PR's completely worthless (anyone can down a kick in the endzone). I found one woefully inadequate kicker in the World League (http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2162460) already with 7 TB's through only two games, and another awful kicker in the minors at day 165 (http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2506712) that is booting it into the endzone. There are also a handful of them in the OP's league that are getting TB's. Its just a matter of "growing up" and getting stronger. I imagine a change of this sort would take place across the board and not at the lower leagues where "perhaps" it would be beneficial, so I would definitely NOT be for this change.

My PR/KR is already next to useless...this would just have everyone building them with Centers.

Would it have been that hard to go look at WL or Nat Pro to see that kick distance is fine, possibly should be shortened considering how many 80 yard auto-touchbacks there are now?

If Bort changed this he would have to go back and completely readjust KO distances... and guess what... your kickers will still be short kicking it.

-1 as it would be a complete waste of time

The reason the NFL does it is to prevent injury, GLB doesn't have injuries so -1. If we want to "keep it real" we should probably consider getting rid of them like the NFL is considering.

I am a casual player and frankly haven't looked at WL or Nat Pro games, so your point is taken. Last comment I will make in this thread is that this is a football sim and high school, college and professional football now kick off from the 35 my opinion (and thus my suggestion) is the sim should reflect how football is actually played.

If they make the Change and my kickers are still short then it is my fault for recruiting shitty kickers. If the Kr/pr can't return realistically, then that's also my bad for recruiting shitty returners.

Once again, I don't know the non-casual game and if this suggestion doesn't work for the majority then so be it.

dotball has very little resemblance to real football, especially when it comes to ST. at least your heart was in the right place, unlike so many terrible suggestions that we get from some.

Be careful how you throw around casual as a term depicting a dot of lesser quality there Freddy. I play a little of both sides of the fence, cas and non-cas, and enjoy both tbh. There is no difference between a kickoff in either format. Kickers kick, and they do it well after they have developed. The kicker on my CasPro team finds the endzone consistently and has been doing it for some time now.

I agree, and will give a +1 to the intention, but -1 to the suggestion. lol
