The trend if not the rule in GLB is that the better dots migrate to the teams that have proven track records of winning. Everyone wants to be in World League and if it comes down to a 0-16 team and a 16-0 team, most folks are gonna sign with the winner.

Now Bort refuses, for good reason no doubt, to force parody with a draft or anything like that.

But how about a way to tempt players into signing their better dots with the lesser teams?

Pick a way to measure the quality of a club. Its effective level, its record the prior season, something like that maybe a combination of the two adjusted for league changes etc. Just to lol forumula, call it team effective level times last seasons winning percentage. (Would not be available in Pee Wee and Rookie).

Assign some value to that quality so that it can be compared to the effective level of a dot.

Give the player a Reward Flex bonus for signing and staying with a team whose quality rating is lower than his dots effective level, same being awarded in the season roll over, and only if he stayed with the team all season.

Expanding the examply forumula, and assuming pro level team and dot, subtract from the team rating the players effective level and divide by ten. If the result is negative, there is no bonus. If the resultis positive, the resultis the reward flex the player gets for signing with the lower quality team. So for example if the team was winless and was rated 0 and the player signing had an effective level of 1300 then he would get 130 reward flex for signing with the dog team. Or maybe divide by 100 so it would be 13 flex instead, to limit the impact on Borts vacation plans. But some positive reinforcement would help.

If that forumula isn't your cup of tea realize it could be done differently. But the idea is to motivate players to give lower performing teams a second look.

Whatchya think? Carrots are harmless enough. Is there really any reason not to do this other than I suggested it?
