at the top of a thread that you've opened have a button which will take you directly to the first post you have not read in that thread. it will save time instead of scrolling through an entire page of posts you've already read through.

or something like this.

maybe if you click the thread title it can take you to the original post.
if you click the "new icon" itll take you to the first post you havent read.

no need for an extra button or anything.

+1 and, if possible , a "mark all posts as read" button for those days when you don't have time to read all of them (or a reason to read all of them) but already know you've read the one's you wanted to and would like to 'reset' the whole thing as if you had read them all.

not threads, posts in that thread. it would send you to the first post you haven't read in that thread.

Wouldn't the new post in the thread be right after the post you just read?

only if you just posted in it. say you go to a thread in your team forum, post something then log out. then you come back the next day. now your options are see the first post or the last post in that thread. well what if there are 15 posts between the time you logged out and logged back in? you're stuck with either scrolling from the first post down to the last post, or scrolling up from the last post to the last post you read.

this button would take you directly to the first post you haven't read in the particular thread you clicked on. this is a function a majority of forum based websites use.

I'm wondering if the OP has ever clicked on the "NEW" icon to the left of a thread / forum heading, and if the results of said click are along the lines of what the suggestion wants.

not even close. clicking the new button now brings you to the last post of the entire thread. He wants to see the first post that was posted after he left the thread.

Say I write the 40th reply in the thread and then i log out. I come back later and want to resume where i left of but now theres 80 posts. Id have to scroll and change pages to get to it, if i clicked the new button id have to flip pages the other way.

he wants to continue on where he left off not where the last post is.
