(was 50-50 between posting this here or as a bug: 'Goal Line formation plays ignoring custom slots TE1, TE2 and BTE')

The depth chart allows picking each lineman on "Goal Line Specific" except for the three TE positions. The highest energy Goal Line Specific TE is on the right side, the second highest on the left, and the lowest energy TE is on the far right.

It seems odd that Goal Line Specific allows so much control over each lineman *except* for the 3 TEs, when TE and BTE are able to be specified in all other playcalling packages with the TE1 and TE2 and BTE custom slot. Even if Goal Line formation would use the TE1 and TE2 custom slots for the right and left TE, that will be all the flexibility one would need.

10 plays from a previous game. Settings:
Depth Chart:
TE1: Ray Drecker
Goal Line Specific TE: Ray Drecker, Jamal Lewis Jr, and [blank]

Play: HB Screen Strong
TE Depth Chart: TE1
BTE Depth Chart: TE

Screens need good blocking, hence the want to have more control over it when reasonable.

Change the energy setting on that position? (I know, you can't -- it's a pre-emptive strike.)

+1.

I always assumed it let us choose Inside TE and BTE in GL formation... never actually checked to see if it did what I set.
Would like more control over the TE slots in GL.

Big +1

Since there are no down the field passes to defend against it wouldn't be at all OP'd to choose which TE goes where.

Also, All Hail Eris.

I just posted a question in the newb forum trying to find an answer to this. I had run lower energy settings to keep my recTE starter in place at the standard TE slot for the last several seasons and I think that also affects the GLSTE slot as I didn't have issues before. We added another recTE to the standard TE slot for '28 and changed to 98/99 energy and now my GLSTEs are showing up randomly. Not good......

p.s. just adding an advanced energy setting for GLSTE would fix the problem for me.....

Is there any way to deal with this in the meantime other than using the standard TE energy or sacrificing one of the other TE slots for GL usage? This really sucks...

Yes.

Set your TEs as follows under Goal Line TE:

#1 TE will usually line up at the inside TE position on the right
#2 TE will usually line up at the outside TE position on the right
#3 TE will usually line up at the TE position on the left

Depending on what you energy settings are they can move a bit but this will usually force them into that alignment.

I appreciate the try merenoise but getting them not to move at all is the point to the suggestion. My personnel just don't work out without being in the right spots.
Unless.... I'm assuming the GLSTE slot is controlled by the TE energy setting. Maybe I'm wrong and it's controlled by the global energy setting? It would mean i've got to set energy at every slot and use global just for GLSTE but it would work. As is, I've sacrificed the TE2 slot for GL formations but now I have to check thru all the preset plays still in the AI and fix anywhere TE2 is used for a recTE.
This really just needs to be fixed dammit.

Agree 100%, I gave it a +1. Just giving a workaround for peeps while this suggestion gains momentum.
