I feel like a part of pass quality is throwing a "catchable" ball. This should matter regardless of who is catching it. I understand that placement of the ball is also a big factor (where only your man can get it), but if a defender can get in position to make an intercept roll, a higher quality pass should be easier to catch. This would help elite defenders make plays vs elite quarterbacks rather than having a dominant QB throw all over the defense regardless of who is back there.

Maybe this already exists, maybe it uses the same "catching code" to calculate any catches... I don't know. If it doesn't, it should IMO.

-1. I recognize this season seems to have not quite enough interceptions, but turning pass quality into a negative is the wrong way to tweak that. Pass Quality is (IMO) doing what you want with the ball, thereby throwing it so your receiver is the only one with a shot at it.

-1 Do great NFL QBs that in theory have the highest pass quality get picked more often per interception attempt? I would bet no. Generally a great passer ball is more difficult to intercept because it has better accuracy and is thrown harder.

Show me some proof/stats.

A nicely thrown spiral that goes to where a defender can pick it off isn't a quality pass so...

I'm pretty sure this already exists as part of the code.
I know I read somewhere on here that when QB's throw bad passes they are harder to deflect, or something similar, but that doesn't really sound quite right as I read it because increased pass quality is supposed to make balls harder to deflect.

I don't know maybe I'm a little lost.

** Edit NVM, found it, Rusty Trombone suspects that bad pass quality makes a ball harder to deflect, no one with access to the code has said anything of the sort... that being said I give this +1, if a QB throws a nice lofty spiral and it goes right to a defender it should be easier to intercept... and I imagine that's already part of the code, but if it isn't I'd like for it to be.**

If anything, Bad passes should be the ones that are easier to intercept than nerfing great passing instead. -1

It's not great passing if you throw it to the defender.

Pass QUALITY should affect the interception rate, assuming the defender has quality position. Anyone that has played football can tell you that a good spiral (pass quality) is easier to catch than a lame duck. I may be missing everyone else's point, but it seems that most people that "-1" this suggestion assume that pass quality also incorporates accuracy, whereas I consider accuracy to be one thing, and quality to be another (see: spiral).

If a pass is inaccurate, or the offensive player falls down, or the defender just has great position and the ball is thrown in a tight spiral (my interpretation of pass quality) then the intercept chance definitely should be higher.
