Oklahoma City… In what was billed as a warm-up for the upcoming Chupacabra-Spartans game, San Jose barely broke a sweat steamrolling the OKC Outlaws 33-6.
“Hey, they put some yards up and they scored some points. But we played our brand of defence and kept them out of the endzone,” said San Jose cornerback Super Glue.
However, the San Jose defence did find the endzone courtesy of Super Glue, who picked off a Brett Favre pass and raced 72 yards for the score. Favre was picked off twice more by safety Brain Dawkins and corner Sancho Clean.
“We really feed off our defence,” said quarterback Remo Rankin, “Seeing them holding other teams off the scoreboard just makes us want to work that much harder to put up points and get those boys the win.”
The San Jose offense was steady, finding the endzone twice in the fourth quarter to put the game fully out of reach of the Outlaws.
With San Jose riding a six game win streak, there is speculation that they may play spoiler to the heavily favoured Oklahoma City Spartans. Defensive coordinator Jake Rawburst dismissed any talk of predictions.
“Listen, we’re gonna go in and fight and claw and bleed and see where we end up at the end. That’s all I have to say,” Rawburst said in a brief appearance at the post game press conference.
