With leading now, I think it would be beneficial to see when a QB just gets a bad roll on pass quality, rather than misleading the WR.

"Inaccurate Pass" would be a pass that was slightly off target, but not a "bad pass" as triggered by a horrible pass quality roll.

example: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1906878&pbp_id=2628912

this was probably just a poorly thrown ball, just not bad enough for a "bad pass" rating. But it would be nice to know that this wasn't just a leading issue.

It would probably help QBs tweak their builds as needed to get better lead logic

In your replay it looks like the ball was just a bit short (or the cb jumped) and it was deflected, but still caught. I like your idea. Don't know if it would fire here. If the CB jumped to deflect, then the pass was probably a 'accurate' one. If the ball was in fact thrown short, then possibly 'inaccurate'. I think it would also help with determining custom progressions.

Just had a thought. What's your definition of the difference between a bad throw and a mislead WR?

when bad throw triggers the ball can go damn near anywhere, especially being effected on the azimuth (direction), whereas with an inaccurate throw, the general area is close, but it's just not the best of throws (you see these a lot, slightly over or under thrown balls on what should be a big big play)

and in my replay, it should be a TD, unless the FS got the tackle at the one. When you have a CB burned by 5 yards there is no way they should be able to deflect the pass, jumping or not. The ball was slightly under thrown, which caused the WR to slow down and thus gave the CB a chance to deflect.

This idea would allow you to determine the following:

1) The "inaccurate pass tag" was displayed - It was an under thrown ball, sucks, but it happens

2) The "inaccurate pass tag" was NOT displayed - The QB thought that it was placed well when it wasn't. Possible vision issue (misjudged WR's speed etc)

3) The "inaccurate pass tag" was NOT displayed - The QB couldn't throw the ball far enough, possible strength / throwing issue. (fix ur build)

4) The "inaccurate pass tag" was NOT displayed - The QB thought that it was placed well when it wasn't. QB lead logic needs to be looked at.

by looking at different builds and the 2-4 things listed above you could fine tweak a QBs build or the lead logic to get it to be better.

and for the record, I'm not complaining about the pass etc. I think a high number of deep balls should be slightly under / over thrown because that's how it works in reality.
