As I posted in the "get rid of playing intensity as a setting" thread, I have no problem if that is done; but there is another alternative, of making it a challenging choice:

What if playing Hard was +5% to all attributes (except Vision, Confidence, and Stamina, which shouldn't be affected by play intensity) but -30% to energy (i.e. +30% to energy use)?

Normal would of course be +/-0/0, and Relaxed would be the opposite of Hard: -5% to most attributes and +30% to energy (i.e. -30% to its use).

That may lead to teams on Hard being exhausted late in games, especially at low levels (where Stamina is lower), and make the play intensity a decision without an obvious optimal answer.

How do you know it doesn't work like that already?

I recall the thread where Bort was brainstorming something similar. I don't think he implemented it but I wouldn't trust changing that tactic until I had a good reason to try it. I'd look for that thread but I suck at using the search feature here.

But to recap...(IIRC) he had intended it to be something you might use Relaxed or Normal for in the low levels but then adjust upwards over time to Hard at the Reg Pro/Pro/WL level. I do like the concept that you dont get rewarded for ALL attributes (just the logical ones), and I dont recall Bort making that distinction.

The only concern is that its yet another tactic setting for players in the absence of a feature for coordinators to "recommend" (not necessarily dictate) and so puts additional burden to type up text for the relatively small number of good coordinators that help a lot of teams.

But I'm always for making something useless, useful...so +1

I believe something similar to this was already implemented back in March of 2008.

Play Intensity

Relaxed: use less energy, but play at a reduced level
Normal: normal energy use.
Hard: use more energy, but play at a higher level

Actually, stamina, the ability to sustain prolonged physical or mental effort, should be affected by play intensity. The more of yourself you're leaving on the field, each and every play, the less of yourself you have to go the distance. Confidence should also be affected. Should start out high, since you know you're gonna go "**** deep," but the more exhausted you get, the less confident you might be that you could make the next play.

I am for just getting rid of the choices and having all players set to hard.

but -1 to the OP on this one I don't think it is something we need.
