It's an unmanageable, tangled mess. It's silly that the forum even exists now that the marketplace is in existence. The marketplace is MUCH more organized and efficient. I think it's ridiculous that an owner has to wade through 100 threads about dots not in his team's age ranged to find one that matches his team's level. It's like using a butterknife to open a can when there is a perfectly good can opener lying in front of you.

Let's face it, the majority of the agents that use the PLFT forum are attention whores who just want people to tell them how special their dot is. They prey on naive owners who actually think their team has a chance at that dot. Newsflash: The majority of the agents with dots in that forum planned on retiring their dot or knew which team they were going to sign with BEFORE they even typed up the ad.

Those attention whores can still beg for and receive praise in the marketplace since there is a large text box and people can post comments under it. It's just now owners that aren't looking for a dot in that age range don't have to scroll past it any longer.

Seriously, I put a dot in the PLFT forum last night for shits and giggles. Committed to a team about 30 minutes later. These agents are just yanking a lot of chains, folks.

Here's an idea from Puma that I think would be a great compromise if the admins are interested in implementing it...

So the divas still get their posts, why not do both?

Step 1: Drop the generic PLFT forum.
Step 2: Make the all PLFT forums response based only, I.e. you cannot post directly in it only respond to existing posts.
Step 3: Set up a series of PLFT forums sorted by position and age.
Step 4: Make it such that each time you click "Add Listing" your player gets a post in the proper PLFT subforum. Only allow one post per player per subforum, so if button is clicked twice, old thread is "bumped" and updated.

People could keep threads for their dots but they would be much better organized since it would be hot linked in their ad.

Back in the day of the pyramid leagues this wasn't that big of a deal since the vast majority of the leagues were uncapped. Now that we have so many different capped leagues the PLFT forum is extremely outdated. With most owners having such a small band of players they can sign it is pants on head to keep that forum open. Let's corral all the dots into one place.

I would also like to see an addition to the marketplace. Create or add to the current marketplace to allow teams to advertise their needs in a set-up very similar to the players marketplace.

+1 Though this likely will fall under the "Deleting any forum (Free For All, Trash Talking, etc)." thing in ngth.

Those forums were supposed to be on the way out with the enhancements to the marketplace a long time ago but too many people probably complained.

I'm not really sure what benefit there is for people to use the forums unless they want to show how popular their player is by the number of people replying "PM Sent"

I've been wanting a team section in the marketplace for awhile now. And even a coordinators one.

The forums are just awful, having to weed through so many pointless threads.

Now that the marketplace works properly and agents actually use it we could probably get rid of PLFT ect.

In the early days of the marketplace I was against removing the forums as the majority of players I signed came from the forums not the marketplace.

Now it seems the opposite is happening.

This was supposed to happen when the marketplace was introduced so it doesn't fall under the "deleting forums" NGTH post. DD and Bort cowered down to the attention whores and allowed the PLFT forum to stay open. This is another example of Bort listening to a small, vocal group and allowing this game to be held back. They need to go ahead and do what they had intended to do in the first place. Anyone crying that they are going to quit over this is either full of shit or they were going to leave anyway.

If GLB is going to leave beta this year it needs to get away from the archaic "season 1" stuff. Recruiting, game info, and many other things need to be pulled back in before your advertise this game. Having shit scattered all over the place is just sloppy and does not make a good impression upon new users.

Yep

For every dot I sign from the PLFT forum I estimate that I sign at least 50 from the marketplace.

Add in the fact that a diva can still create an "ad" for their player in the marketplace listing their demands, needs, etc.. and the PLFT forum is pretty much not needed at all.

All it does is conceal one or two dots that your team may need. It's concealed because those two ads are sandwiched between a ton of others that are not of your team's interest. The PLFT forum is just an unnecessary hassle.

Much easier to create one thread..then have to post multiple ads in the Marketplace (which get deleted after 5 days, unless you do an edit)
