There is a lot of discussion about the passing game and how this or that needs changing. I propose that ball speed is changed to a more realistic level. Often we see defensive backs run across the field to deflect a pass that he should have really never gotten to.

There is no reason the MLB ever has a chance to get there. In the play linked above the MLB runs from the near hash to the numbers in the time it takes the ball to arrive. This is retarded and it seems that strength on a QB will not change it. Tactics will change the amount of air the ball gets, but now the velocity in which its thrown.

I propose ball speed be accelerated to a more realistic level.

+1, NFL thrown ball speeds are intense, especially when throwing bullet passes, I think the speed at which the ball is thrown needs to also be that much faster, especially when throwing on bullet settings with 85+ strength.

try fixing a build to 100 strength and 100 bullet tactic. Everyone is obsessed with 100 vision.

Most nfl QBs can throw the ball 50 to 60 MPH.

Running a 4.2 40 yard dash, the runner averages under 20MPH. That means the ball is traveling 2.5x to 3x the speed of the fastest runner running a straight line from starting blocks on a track surface

How about 93 strength and 100 bullet? Doesn't do shit.

How about boosting the WR catching skill to be able to catch a bullet pass..

its not 100> Would you want a 93 speed HB or 100? big enough difference imo.

Check out the changes coming for the passing game. Might want to hold off on any suggestions because it's likely the problem you describe will go away.

Dots are much faster than humans, and a fast dot in GLB can run over 30MPH.

Fortunately the QB ball speed is also uberhuman and strong armed QBs appear to be throwing in the 90 mph or better range, and with no drop-off at the end of a long pass as you would see in real life (due to drag from the wind).

In other words....

Most of the issues like this come down to physics.

Bort system (which annoys me) is that there is a linear progression and physical attributes that go higher just add more and more. When you add in the ridiculous percentage based additives and the like (goal line stand, etc) You get players with absolutely retarded attribute values.

This is why I suggested (and periodically re-suggest) that Bort consider switching to an attribute system where there are absolute upper limits to physical things (like speed) and that attributes in excess of the amount to achieve the upper limit instead start providing bonuses to the rolls that involve the attribute.

This would stop ridiculous feats on the field where players are moving in excess of 30+ MPH.

This would help balance the game as well since the physics would be sound and not perpetually broken by people coming up with interesting exploits until bort re-tweaks the sim.

Or, he could just make the passes fly a lot faster.

...and lead receivers better.
