Subject line describes it. Add 'Run' to the check down list/options. So that an OC can create an 'option' play. QB takes the snap, drops and goes through their custom progressions. If they hit 'run' in these progressions they then stop reading for a pass and start to run.

You can already force this in the sim to some extent so it seems like it should be a logical addition and not upset game balance.

The reason Bort said it wasn't done when the progressions were added was because taking off to run isn't coded as a play progression, and rather is based on the QB's tactics and pressure. Fwiw he wasn't interested in changing it.

An easier fix would be to change the scramble to run tactic to only trigger when the QB is already moving toward the line of scrimmage, or is moving close to full speed parallel to the line of scrimmage. That would eliminate most of the silly sacks that come when the qb is moving away from the LOS and he decides to run, and would be a much more true behavior.

That has been suggested a bunch of times too. Fwiw I have suggested both ideas before, and I support both ideas if Bort wanted to pick one.

+0... if done right +1, but I'd be very worried that this would create new problems, for instance hurry pressure supposedly keeps QBs from going through their checkdowns, so would a hurried QB just start running every time he faces a blitzing LB with 15 pts in Fearsome?

I'd like it better if it were a vision check to see if the run was viable or not... last thing we need is a QB to hit the run progression and just tuck it when there's someone in flat zone coverage waiting on him (when as soon as he tucks it the zone player reads it and makes the sack)

If it was a "look for the run and take it if there is room" than I'd be fine. Perhaps another tactic for QBs about how aggressive they want their run check to be, with something like:

Run even if there's a possibility for a loss in yards
Run only if you think you will get a few yards
Run only if you think you will get the first down or more
