Isn't First Step just for helping a player attain his max speed from a dead stop? So if a DE has insanely higher agility in proportion to his speed (say 140 agi with 100 spd), then what good will first step do? With such high agility, shouldnt he be attaining his maximum speed straight off the snap on every single play?

Other things than agi factor into jump off the line as well, things like vision/jts. So you couldn't just go all agi and bank on getting a great jump every time.

Also iirc fs also increases your max speed for the duration of the play, or at least til you stop, which no amount of agi could do. even though it wasn't intended to do that, I remember some people saying it did.
