Well that certainly was an interesting week that led to some major changes in the top 10, but nobody fell out. Here are your new rankings...
Rank - Team name - Standings - Synopsis - Change
1. Austin Lumberjacks (6-1) – One of the three undefeated killers this week, knocking off the Legends and doing it in VERY impressive fashion. Anybody saying they don’t belong at the top after that beautiful win is clearly insane. It’s not going to get any easier as the Resurrection look for revenge after their loss. (+4)
2. (TIE) N.H. Hounds (6-1) – Did everything short of winning the game, falling just a point short. Only had 12 offensive plays in the 4th quarter, with 23 defended. Not the ratio you want in the 4th of a close game. Also, 5 of those plays were for zero or negative yards. The Hounds need to rebound very quickly, as New Orleans is next. (-1)
2. (TIE) Miami Canes (6-1) – Got back to the top of the standings with another close victory against the Golden Kangaroos. Kicker Morten Andersen is king of the Canes right now, 106 points strong and the leading scorer on the team by far. Canes need to start getting some more TDs, the FGs could kill them. (+1)
4. San Marcos Rivermen (5-2) – Knocked off the lone undefeated team in the East in a 1 point game. Scored one less time, but scored the right way with three quality red zone scores. Should have three fairly easy wins coming up, only the Soldiers will be able to provide a form of challenge against the Rivermen. (+2)
5. Phoenix Resurrection (6-1) – Five turnovers to two, and the defense disappeared the rest of the way. 300+ yards against and a huge hole early with a 31-0 halftime deficit. Simply got outplayed by a better team on this game, but Phoenix is not done at all, but Austin and Anchorage could lead to a 3 game losing streak with bad luck. (-3)
6. Raving Mad Dawgs (6-1) – Absolutely tore Colorado Springs a new one, defense allowing a total of 56.5 yards while scoring 57 points. Think about that for a second, more points than yards allowed. That’s a full team victory. Still have yet to fully hit the meat of their schedule, but it’s coming up on them pronto. (+1)
7. Las Vegas Legends (6-1) – Shutout, worst defensive showing by 20 points and two of next three games can be just as difficult to win. Legends need to turn it around quick or else this could start to drop them from even having a home field advantage in the playoffs. Up next is key matchup with Maulers. (-3)
8. Dallas Strikers (5-2) – Proved their worth in the top 10 with a great win against Tucson in a difficult game. Offense has hit its stride with over 110 points in the last 3 games and it wasn’t even Out of State. Better be careful though, Raving Mad Dawgs are next and ready to go. (+2)
9. Anchorage Maulers (5-2) – It’s hard to not gain a position while winning a game, but that was a very unconvincing win against Tallahassee, but that could be personal Miami hatred against Tally, too. Maulers have the toughest possible schedule in the next two games, with opponents records totaling 12-2. (0)
10. New Orleans Golden Kangaroos (5-2) – Difficult loss against the Canes isn’t enough to drop them out, but the next game against the Hounds could certainly push the Golden Kangaroos out. This team is very well rounded, and should be able to come back without a problem. (-2)
