Top Ten
#1 (1) - Banzai Pipeline Nites (7-0) - I was just a little bit off on the margin of victory for this one. I mean, they did win by more than 60.....ALOT more than 60. Banzai has had some games that their O looks ridiculous. I hope they don't have one of those games in Week 16. If I did not drop them last week, there is no way I drop them this week. Next opponent - Offtopica Miracle (Prediction - Banzai surfs their way to 8-0, beats OTM by 40+)
#2 (2) - Buda Pests (7-0) - Honestly, Buda has every claim to the top spot. I guess I am being like the AP voters, and being stubborn with my rankings. Buda completely dismantled Gold Coast, outgaining them 540 to 96. They held GCMM to -3.5 yards rushing. This is not some CPU opponent, but a team that was in the top ten for a while. Wow. Next opponent - SWAT City Vigilantes (Prediction - The Pests will be the ones doing the swatting this week. Buda by 45+).
#3 (3) - Devonport Devils (6-1) - If you like offense, then the game Devonport just won is a good one to watch. As the DC (and assistant ST Coordinator), I am left shaking my head and feeling fortunate to only have 1 loss. That one was won completely by our OC, fast420. Things get easier until week 16 for Devonport, although there are a few trap games along the way. Next opponent - San Diego Scorpions (Prediction - Devonport will rock San Diego like a hurricane, and win by 200+)
#4 (4) - Asau Pirates (6-1) - Guess what. Asau played another CPU team. At least they one kept the score from hitting 255. Up next for Asau is their last hurdle on their way to sweeping Zeta and locking in the top seed. Next opponent - Amsterdam Bulls (Prediction - Asau orders up some filet and feasts on the bulls, Asau by 50+)
#5 (5) - SoCal BDC (5-2) - Talk about a huge 4th quarter comeback that fell just a bit short. With one minute left in the 3rd quarter, Devonport was up 66 to 27, and SoCal rattled off 31 unanswered points to pull within 8, and forced a Devonport punt with a minute and a half to go. If their were two point conversions, they would have possibly had the chance to tie it up. However, this is neither horseshoes nor hand grenades, so close does not count. In the end, its just regular season. I am sure these guys want to get back to WL as much as the rest of us, so when it counts, they will be ready. Next opponent - Holland Pinoy All Star Jrs (Prediction - SoCal spanks the Jrs and sends them home to their daddies, BDC by 40)
#6 (6) - Gold Coast Vipers (6-1) - Solid win for GCV against a playoff contender. I am really excited about their next game. I think it will be a hard fought game, with GCV making the plays to win in the second half. Next opponent - Komodo Dragon (Prediction - Gold Coast wins by a (insert bad pun), GCV by 10)
#7 (7) - Amsterdam Bulls (6-1) - Closer than expected win for Amsterdam, who did not pull ahead until the 4th quarter. Every team seems to have had one of these though. As mentioned above, next they have their shot at the king of the hill. If they can knock Asau off, they will have a shot at the top seed. However, I just don't see it happening. Next opponent - Asau Pirates (Prediction - As stated above, Asau by 50+)
#8 (8) - Kingston Uprising (4-3) - What I said last week still holds true. Their record does not tell the story, as Kingston has played a brutal opening stretch. This week's game against Hong Kong should show if Kingston truly is a top team that has played most of the other top teams, or if they simply keep games close but can not get the key wins they need. I think it is the first one, but we shall see in two days. Next opponent - Hong Kong Voodoo (Prediction - Kingston shows that Rastfari > Voodoo (as if we didn't know that); Kingston wins by 10)
#9 (9) - Komodo Dragon (6-1) - Komodo gets an easy, if unimpressive win over CPU Syracuse. This week they get another shot to prove if they are top 4 worthy in Zeta. Their first shot did not go so well against Asau. I think they will perform better this week, but will not have enough to get the win. Next opponent - Gold Coast Vipers (Prediction - As stated above, GCV by 10)
#10 (10) - Offtopica Miracle (6-1) - Solid, if unspectacular win for Offtopica. They stick in the top 10 for now, although their next opponent should prove to be a major challenge. BPN has been way too good this season, so I don't seen any way that OTM can get the win this week. A loss may not drop them from the top 10, but the next few games will show alot about where OTM is. Next opponent - Banzai Pipeline 'Nites (Prediction - Banzai by 40+)
