Welcome to preview week, taking an early look at upcoming video games for 2011.
Naga
Game Of The Week
Woody Island Wolverines (10-5) v Portland Dirty Penguins (8-7)
It’s that time of the year where games like this become the GoTW because most of the other games don’t mean much in the standings. If PDP wins this game, they are in for sure on the strength of head to head wins over SFC and BHH. The unfortunate part for PDP is that they are in a Killzone 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRYO8NrlejQ and have the most difficult matchup of the trio. WW meanwhile cannot move up or down from the 5 spot at this point. PDP 30, WW 28
Other Games
Palembang Drunken Monks (15-0) v Dayton Raiders (0-15)
Mirror image record matchups are always bad after the first few weeks of the season, but this is the worst possible one. The Mass Effect http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnEej1RfqTs of the Monks should be pretty overwhelming. Monks 145, Dayton 3
Semarang Red Bulls (13-2) v Orlando Praying Mantis (5-10)
Semarang is waiting to see who they’ll play in the playoffs, but for now I guess they’ll be playing OPM. Can OPM take care of business on the Home Front http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYmnX9qldtI with the Red Bulls? Probably not. Semarang 56, OPM 20
Victoria Teabaggers (13-2) v Krungthep Garudas (13-2)
This game determines the 3 and 4 seeds in Naga, so it’s kind of a big game, but either way they probably get one home game. Krungthep has been releasing an absolute Bulletstorm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6mejzirHBw on their opponents ever since they lost to Semarang. VT meanwhile is quietly putting together a great season and we’ll see how far they’ve come here. Garudas 38, VT 24
Hong Kong Hustlers (9-6) v Tibetan Drunk Monks (3-12)
HKH is locked into the 6 spot unless they lose this game, which would trigger a tie-breaking scenario I haven’t even considered tbh. TDM has preserved their return trip to SEA at the expense of the Dayton two. How far will the Infamous http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uAMnsqqI-0 HKH run go this season? HKH 34, TDM 17
Sainte Foy Cyclones (8-7) v Golden Hill Bones (6-9)
SFC has struggled a lot more than I thought they would this season, but it’s win and they’re in. Lose and it gets more complicated and GHB is certainly no layup. It would certainly create a Crysis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHQ6btFSSSs in the SFC clubhouse. Can GHB play spoiler here? SFC 17, GHB 16
Benton Harbor Havoc (8-7) v The Outlaw Hustlers (5-10)
BHH has had a fine season, but they need to win here AND have either PDP or SFC lose for them to get into the big dance. Both of those things are quite possible as they face a TOH team that gets their name back and are now under new ownership. Royal Blue Drunken Smurfs of Funkalicous Labatt (4-11) v Dayton Blackhawks (1-14)
This should actually be a pretty entertaining game. We’ll miss Dayton as they’ve shown good spirit and I’m rooting for them to get back to SEA soon. I expect to the Smurfs’ young talent to be very good next season and dominant in two seasons, just looking through the future Portal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgLgm_TN1gE and all. Mandalay King Cobras (10-5) v Krakow Kryptonite (10-5)
Another GoTW for Krakow? iknowrite? Really though this is the only compelling matchup of lolgaruda this week as it matches two good teams and will have a lot to say about the middle of the playoff seedings, although all of the lolgaruda’s participants are set. Let’s put these two in Mortal Kombat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKGm78D7zww and see what shakes out of the whole deal. KK 30, MKC 27

Buffalo Rampage (13-2) v CPU

New York Empire (13-2) v CPU2

Wu Dang Kung Fu Academy (13-2) v Praha Velvet Revolution (1-14)
PVR, we hardly knew ye. You’re nice guys though, so come back soon and stronger. KFA is just warming up their Gears of War http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztJRoDTamrE for the playoffs. Wu 75, PVR 3
Phu Khao Cow Chicka Brown Cows (12-3) v Tanzania Lumberjacks (7-8)
Still swirling in conspiracy theories, the Cows are locked into that 4 spot and a nice home game for round 1. TL has had a good season and I expect even more from them next time. I am expecting to see some Cow Rage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLids5k8dPo come playoff time. Cows 45, TL 20
Boston Bears (10-5) v Awendaw Toadfish (2-13)
Boston will be watching in the GoTW with interest as they play Awendaw. AT is The Last Guardian http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8zeYSPO1_E between Boston and their 11th win. Unfortunately for them I don’t think it’s going to work out. Boston 49, Awendaw 10
Buffalo Knights (8-7) v Island of Misfit Toys (3-12)
Congrats to Buffalo on winning the big matchup with Halifax. The question is do they pull a BK and overlook IMT, allowing Halifax to slip back in? The Knights are so erratic, nothing surprises me with them. It would certainly be a Bioshock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WDQ4FhslSk to them though. Buffalo 30, IMT 20
Halifax Harpoons (8-7) v Atlantic Great Whites (5-10)
Well Halifax, if you read my above comments, you’ll know you may as well win this one because you don’t know for sure what the Knights will do. Naturally AGW has enough horses to have a say in the matter as well. They may have their eye more on the Future Soldier http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhVx3jBXRSY at this point though.
