Which is strange since this is the last refuge for non-boosters. I really thought interest in PW would grow dramatically with the new age based leagues.

Ultimately, no one cares about winning in silver when there is a Gold league looming above basically discrediting all of your silver accomplishment. Whenever someone posts something about a play that is doing well or a coordinator that is having a successful season, people always follow with the "lolsilver" and "I could do that if I weren't in gold." In gold, you simply don't win championships without boosting. It doesn't happen. So the nonboosters go to Gold for a couple seasons, and then get fed up and tired of outcoordinating other teams yet still losing. See: San Antonio Saviours

Yeah silver used to be a lot more competitive but that should not stop owners of silver teams from competing just because some jackass Gold owner says lolsilver. I remember when people lined up to be agents for peewee dotball and now recruiting has become a nightmare. Just go look at the recruiting forum. A few gold teams posting and no replies.

Pee Wee has no identity in GLB anymore and all of the changes are based around Pro and WL standards. This is pretty much the reason I had zero cares this season for my own team and will be selling the team.

Blame it on the SIM and the cost of the game (boosting). The CEQ problem was fixed, but basically too late. I've got several dots this season, but only the Gold league dots have CEQ. MG, Sick, Fu, Snake, and all the DSBM/DTIT crew decided we'd had enough of the cost of Gold, the time it takes to be successful there (only to be undone by a kick return or something similar), and the all around beating that it is. We decided to fall back to Silver and become non-boost/non-CEQ. We've had a lot more fun, and several new agents or lesser involved agents have become more involved in dot building. WE have some of the best dots this season that we've ever had, and we've done it with minimal instruction. We don't blast the team with alerts or messages; we just build and play. Yes it's Silver and it's the worst our Silver league has been, but we're still having some fun. Our AI's are solid, and we do a minimal amount of tagging and game planning to adjust packages. Basically, I've tweaked the offensive AI once to adjust play % for an opponent (and then back) and the packages once (for our last game). I probably won't touch it again until round 2.

It's nice to still play PW and try some different builds. I've learned a few things the last few seasons about the builds, training, etc. Along the way we've won most of our games, enjoyed the dots, and haven't had the cost of boosting or the beating of Gold game planning. If PW doesn't embrace that situation, then it will die. The old guard got tired of carrying the torch for Gold and PW and moved on. A lot of us are coordinating for older teams with more developed dots -- dots that are more immune to the constantly evolving SIM. Until the SIM moves out of beta, I think that trend will continue. So, you can either become a no/no team, do some experimental builds, and have fun at a lower level or take the beating of Gold and be pissed at how we're all getting screwed.

The biggest reason it is dying is because the ones that have been around for seasons are getting tired of it. I think that has more to do with just the natural course of a game. Yet there is not a real good turnover rate for talent. The verterans have lost interest but are still good enough to not get demoted. And when someone comes up from silver they are not that prepared for the differences in Gold and get discouraged. It is just not a good situation to keep the upper league fresh. And silver is way too non competitive in a given league to hold a lot of interest. When more than half your games are gimmies it does not create a lot of passion.

They should really condense the silver leagues to make them more competitive and somehow make it easier to get to gold then winning your league. It is pretty insane that you can be one of the top 4 teams in a silver league and play many many non meaningful games. Then it all comes down to one game against one competitive team. If you lose you pretty much have to wait 50 days to get another chance (of which maybe 5 of those days have interesting games)

Part of it is that most outside of the community don't care enough to even know what PeeWee is like. Remember when I passed for like 80 billion TDs in Gold with PPM? There were still posts in GLB main about how peewee is just boring slamball.

The other part is that its a very niche system. Most people that play MMOs want to get to the top of the ladder, not the top rung of a sub ladder that seems to be near the bottom. You really almost have to trick your own dots into doing what you want them to, which is just stupid. PeeWee barely resembles real football as we know it anyway.

I think when Pee Wee started people had retired a bunch of Season 1&2 dots and had Plenty of flex to burn. Now that there flex bank is gone and have to start paying for flex to boost its not as fun as it once was. Back before gold you could wait till the playoffs to boost. Now you have to Boost half way into the season just not to get demoted. And know one want to get demoted because every game in gold is important. But like everyone else I get Sucked back in for another season.

Theories

Maybe people are running out of flex on their multi accounts

Maybe there wasn't that much interest to begin with, we just thought there was (love is blind)

Maybe pee wee isn't dying but we are physically

Maybe it's because people are preparing for Dec 21,2012

Maybe pee wee, really isn't pee wee

Are we real?

The idea behind pee wee is good but it needs its own sim separate from the regular sim. Coordinating teams is a hassle and recruitment is a joke now. Teams that have 15+ agents are at a disadvantage to those teams with 1 agent. I mean the constant babying asking people to apply skill points and equip their EQ and how dare you ask someone to upgrade level 8 EQ because going in and clicking a few buttons is hard. It's just pertinent that these things get done or else you can lose to a well run team.

The bottom line is people have gotten lazy and complacent with stuff and more and more people are losing interest because its too much time to train and apply skill points.

Maybe they should change the level structure for one and done PW's. Just give us 4 levels. However, add a lot more SP at each level. For example, give us 15 more SP at creation. Then, we'd have to play say 4 games before we leveled. At that point, give us 20-25 more SP. Play 4 more games, get another level and another 20 SP. You get the idea. It would allow you to quickly adjust to an evolving SIM or change direction midstream of a season.

If you wanted to really add a twist, you could setup a league where teams could reset half of their earned level SP before every game. Imagine what would happen if you were level 8 and got to move 20 SP from an area or two into another area. Maybe you just capped speed at 48 and then brought up some other stuff. Now all of a sudden you move SP around and have another 10 points in speed because of the 20 SP move. Talk about making you pay attention and plan...

Yeah I would like to see some one and done players that start at level 10 or so. Then level up to about 20 during the season. Add in boosting maybe they get to lvl 23. All players level on certain day irregardless of playing time. And boosting is limited to playoffs or some other time frame (I know Bort would never go for that nor should he as a business should never turn down an oppurtunity for people to spend their money).

That would put most teams on the same level except for boosting. (maybe make that cheaper to get more people to do it). It give us a few more levels to create different types of players but still limited enough that they can't be too different. This would still rely heavily on game planning and cooridinators.

But yeah it is only a pipe dream
