I swear. With all the parity in this league, it is really hard to figure out who should be ranked where. I mean, the top few are fairly clear now and the bottom are not changing much, but the big middle is just a mess to sort out.

At least I know I will do better than some of the ranks in the owner's poll. Asau at #9? Sumatra at #17? Really???

So here is my best attempt to rank OPL after Week 7:

Top Ten

#1 (Last Week: 1) - Cypriot Freedom (7-0) - No change here, as Cypriot handily beat 8 Mile in Week 7. Now they get a Stockholm team that is playing pretty good dotball of late. I don't think Stockholm has the horses to win this one, but I think they will keep it respectable. Next opponent: Stockholm Black Death (Prediction - Cypriot by 28)

#2 (Last Week: 2) - Asau Pirates (7-0) - For the second straight week, Asau wins but in a much closer game than I expected. If they do that a third week in a row, they may cost themselves the #1 seed in Zeta. I think they will end up victorious, but it should be a nailbiter. Next opponent: Eastern European Alliance (Prediction - Asau by 7)

#3 (Last Week: 4) - Devonport Devils (6-1) - Devonport won a tightly contested battle with Banzai to move into the third spot. Now they faced an Offtopica team that has struggled of late, dropping their last 3 and 4 out of their last 5. Next opponent:Offtopica Miracle (Prediction - Devonport by 35)

#4 (Last Week: 5) - Eastern European Alliance (6-1) - EEA benefits from Banzai's loss as they move up to #4. However, they now face Asau in what looks to be the battle for the top spot in Zeta. Last season, all the top seeds in the playoffs won, so maybe EEA will gameplan for this one. Regardless, there is no way they would admit to doing it, win or lose. That's just how they roll. If they do, this should be a real good game. Next opponent: Asau Pirates (Prediction - Asau by 7)

#5 (Last Week: 3) - Banzai Pipeline Nites (6-1) - Banzai played Devonport very closely and thus does not drop very far with the loss. In fact, depending upon the results of the EEA - Asau game, they may move up one after this week. They need to get past a solid Death team first though. Next opponent: Death Dealers (Prediction - Banzai by 17)

Here's where it gets real tough. Sin City beat 6th but lost to Stockholm. Stockholm lost to Bora Bora and beat Sin City. Bora Bora beat Stockholm but lost to 6th. and 6th beat Bora Bora but lost to Sin City. Maybe I should call it a 4 way tie...

#6 (Last Week: 9) - Bora Bora Bangaroos (5-2) - Bora Bora gets the nod at #6 by virtue of their most recent playing history. Their 2 losses were in week 2 and 3. Since then they have beaten Death and Stockholm. They have not lost since they announced the hiring of a new OC. This week they get a Boston team which has been very quiet after doing alot of barking in the preseason. Next opponent: Boston Bulldogs (Prediction - Bora Bora by 24)

#7 (Last Week: 10) - Stockholm Black Death (5-2) - Stockholm continues their climb up the rankings following a very impressive victory over Sin City. This was one of those games where the stats don't seem to match the score. Stockholm ran for 7.2 ypc and outgained Sin City by 180 yards. All of that is why I put them at #7. This week they get their toughest challenge yet, as they go to Cyprus to play the Freedom. Next opponent: Cypriot Freedom (Prediction: Cypriot by 28)

#8 (Last Week: 7) - 6th Street Savage Swarm (4-3) - 6th Street did as expected and beat Offtopica pretty handily. This week they face Gold Coast in a game that will surely have implications on playoff seeding. Next opponent: Gold Coast Michelin Men (Prediction - 6th Street by 17)

#9 (Last Week: 8) - Sumatra Sea Hawks (6-1) - Not much changed for Sumatra as they destroyed one of Zeta's bottom dwellers. This week should be more of the same. Next opponent: Fortaleza Prowlers (Prediction: Sumatra by a bunch)

#10 (Last Week: 6) - Sin City Silent Assassins (5-2) - Sin City lost a game that I thought they should have won. Thus, they drop a few spots this week. They can lick their wounds as they play an Alpha gimme, the Urban Dogs. Next opponent - Urban Super Dogs (Prediction - Sin City by a whole bunch)

The Rest of the Pack
#11 (11) - Gold Coast Michelin Men (5-2)
#12 (12) - Death Dealers (4-3)
#13 (13) - Oregon Ducks (5-2)
#14 (17) - Gold Coast Vipers (3-4)
#15 (14) - Boston Bulldogs (4-3)
#16 (16) - IC Incinerators (4-3)
#17 (18) - San Diego Supa Chargers (4-3)
#18 (15) - Indianola Longhorn Legends (4-3)
#20 (20) - Volgograd Black Army (2-5)
#21 (21) - Offtopica Miracle (3-4)
#22 (22) - Oberon Bulls (4-3)
#19 (19) - Saipan Sin-Eaters (2-5)
#23 (23) - Addict Nation (1-6)
#24 (24) - Hong Kong Voodoo (1-6)
#25 (25) - 8 Mile Assault (1-6)
#26 (26) - Tasmanian Muskrats (3-4)
#27 (27) - Florida BeachDogZ (1-6)
#28 (28) - Urban Super Dogs (1-6)
#29 (29) - Fortaleza Prowlers (2-5)
#30 (30) - Fairview Heights Fireflies (1-6)
#31 (31) - Warriors of Oceania (0-7)
#32 (32) - Motown Legends (0-7)

Ouch. Bumped down two spots for losing a tight game that most had us losing by much more. That kind of stings.

I drop some teams even when they win. I missed the score by 1, so it was pretty close to what I expected. Not necessarily that you guys would run Weak I HB Sweep Weak 15 times, but otherwise, the game was pretty close to what I expected.

Boston had some people away at the start of the season. I think we should get louder as the season progresses.

For reference planton - Is Devonport ranked ahead of EEA because you think the Devonport loss to Cypriot was a better loss than EEA's?

Also, if EEA beats Asau, do you think Devonport is now the second best team in OPL?

It's ok, I game plan while under the influence of muscle relaxers, you never know what you will see from my defense (and sometimes neither do I )

Looks about right to me, except I think GCMM is underrated and should be the favorite going into this game. I assume this game is going to mean something to WJ. Just to be safe, we'll have something special in store for them as well.

Promo time WJ! Give us all you got!

GO make me a sammich GCMM!!!

Yes, Devonport is ahead of EEA based on the comparison of the results from the two Cypriot games.

And yes, EEA beating Asau doesn't change the Cypriot results. It would just drop Asau and move Devonport and EEA up.

Really? No disrespect to GCMM but I only see two, maybe three, more wins on their schedule. I think they are 5 or 6 spots overrated...

IF I gameplan, i will gladly admit to it. Win or lose.

I'm being honest when I say I don't GP. Last season, the only game I gp'd for on offense was early against SoCal, because I knew they would blitz, and i wanted to be prepped for that.

Otherwise, i didn't gameplan for any other team. And, I wanted to GP for the playoffs, but it fell into Christmas and I was spending time with the family. What can ya do?

I have played this game for a long time now, and I almost ALWAYS gp'd for all games. But, it gets to a point where it's just not worth it in regular season. To do it right, it takes up too much time. And after awhile, and 30 + games later, you get burnt.

But ya, If I find time tomorrow night, I will sit down and spend an hour or so looking at Asau. They have changes, or matured, alot in the past couple seasons.

I still expect them to win though.
