Figured gotta put something out here for you CPL'ers
Just a quick rundown of how I see the teams stacking up in CPL...... checked the rosters a bit and had to use a little effective level with so much unknown but here we go. I will note that a lot can obviously change pending how much teams will put into gameplanning as from 5 seed down it's wide open.
1. QCBC - bias aside, #1 until proven otherwise. Had some leakage on D in the preseason but should get that tightened up.
2. Niagara Maulers - CPL veteran team, lots of dots from the Hub City Hustlers looks like they made their way here. Just a handful of dots outside of extended plateau so this team is built to win now. Will be interested to see how much they've closed the gap with QC.
3. Raging Alcoholics - was probably the best new team from last season with a very solid showing and even took out Niagara last year in the playoffs. Very good effective level and with a year of aging and exp in CPL, should make some noise this year.
4. Algoma Arena Rockers - got this team higher to start....... has had a strong lolpreseason more than holding their own against some of CPL West's upper tier teams. Almost entire team not in extended plateau and with a very solid effective level. Probably the most talented new CPL team and will have instant success.
5. Thunder Bay Wolverines - CoachC is one tireless recruiter and has brought his own stud QB to the squad to lift the offense. Looks like they made quite a few changes considering where the chemistry is at currently. Got a big first game test vs Queensland to give themselves a gauge. Team will have to prove itself a bit to get into the upper tier but it's not out of the question they make that jump.
6 Manitoba Matadors - another new squad, solid squad that has almost entire roster that can still boost. Good coordinators and at least has shown in the preseason they can fare pretty well with other new teams in CPL. Certainly has the potential to get up to the 4/5 range but will be competitive.
7. BSoDF - the epitome of the old guard CPL. Got some young SSD dots and even old Hali legends..... question is will they need to show any care to make the playoffs this season? Could drop if some of the teams below prove themselves.
8 Puvirnituq Musketeers - probably biggest wildcard in the East, really tumbled badly last season although they were pretty experienced and had the talent. Could see it going either way this year as they have high leveled talent but question will be if they show enough care. May be able to sneak in at the 8 spot on pure talent.
I'll list 9-16 without much of a write-up.... it gets pretty jumbled here with a lot of new teams with much to prove.
9. Siberian Express - solid effective level, could sneak in the playoffs
10. Yorkshire Rippers
11. Bortland Nerfalots
12. Thunder Bay Sabertooths
13. Munich Piranhas
14. Northeast Chopping Broccoli
15. Dallas Knights
16. Hub City Hustlers - RIP Kayoh
Good luck to everyone this season!
