Hey folks,

New to the DT side of the house, but have had a little success with O Line. I am still new to the game, but I wanted to build out a DT. I saw in a previous post about a containment DE, but I wanted to see what I should be looking for, does 81/81/73/68/68 build work well? And should I build out Str an Agi first, or Agi and Spd? With my O line guys I would generally train Str first and then blocking, so not sure how that translates over here. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Mirv

Well, with a Pass Rushing DT you (IMO) go:
Strength - 77 (to stop being pancaked)
Agility - 77 (helps with break blocks)
Tackling - 60 - 68 (always up for debate)
Vision - 60
Speed - 73

The last three can be moved around, but ever since speed plays so little into the DT's game, I put it last.

Your cap points seem fine, just depends on the archetype you use, for instance, it is still possible and often recommended to still choose the run stuffer archetype for a pass rushing DT.

I would go strength and agility to 81 first, and depending on your multi-train options, decide past that.

Personally, i would multi - tackling, vision, speed , train and cap strength first, then start multi-training with agility as 4th until your done with strength and have the points to cap agility. Switch 4th train to something else once you get a free point or two in agility past 60. Then once agility is capped or near final cap, round cap tackling and vision to 49, and let them raise by ALG and multi-train, and work speed up to 73. Then come back to tackling/vision (which after about 5 seasons of mulit-train will be near 66 cap already).

You wont sniff a QB if you only go to 77 for str/agi.

81/81/81/61

str/agi/spd/vis

I agree. I would actually take strength and agility past 81.

Cool, so no secondary attributes whatsoever?

You can go 83/83 and still have secondary attributes to a decent level, or you can try what I'm trying which is to completely ignore tackling and have them at a good level.

This requires a little risk taking though, because I have no idea how a DT will perform with 35 tackling at level 70+, even if he does have good numbers in the other attributes.

I'm thinking about not putting any points in any SAs other than FS as well.

End up with over 90 natural strength, agility, and speed. Over 75 vision, and around 65 stamina and 50 confidence.

Sorry to jack this thread, but once you reach the 1st cap in strength, should I assign skill points to Ag or continue with Strength until I reach 88-91?

strength, but probably no higher than 87. It's probably better to stop somewhere between 81 and 85 and then keep training it as part of quad training until it hits 91 though.

Pass rushing DT is now a farce. Id make him just like a NT, but focus on the pass rushing tree. JMO

Pass rush tree wont help. Pass rush VAs will though.

Wow...some great points here and it looks like I started the build off a little wrong so now I will need to adjust as I level. I think I can make it work! Thanks for the input guys!
