Warrior General Games

Without going into names, it seems there are a few posters here that really get under the skin of everyone else. I am not going to become accusitory because I really don't care myself. I just choose to ignore the ones that post nonstop garbage. However, it seems many of you are still up in arms over certain posts, and I can see why from reading this board daily.

In my experience with over 10 years on various message boards as an administrator and participant the best way to deal with posters that "troll" or try to get a rise out of everyone is simply to ignore it and not even respond. I have seen many message board trolls and if the other members simply ignored their posts and pretended as if that person didn't exist, it normally stops. In the mind of a message board troll, it is no fun any more when no one responds to it.

Either way, if you chose to respond to those that post trash, then you should be willing to keep participating in it. Or you can ignore it, read and respond to the more quality posts and enjoy your time here more. Just a suggestion.

i agree. but i will name names. Niner, Wylo and Dash21583 are the biggest offenders of this and we need to just ignore the trolls.

Or you could do what another forum board I'm on does and ban everyone who repeatedly trolls after a warning or two. The Mods have been messaged multiple times and they brush us all off, so until the mods actually start laying the law down a little bit, or at least making a more clear cut one up for the forums, this shit will continue. I blame poor administration.

Oh I know, been on enough forums to know, just saying that the administration here so far, in my opinion, has been like a 1.5/10 if I were to rate it. Really really poor moderation.

The problem with banning these trolls from the boards is the fact that they are paying customers too, and a buisness never wants to lose customers. Bort probably knows that we will not quit the game due to a forum troll, but the forum troll, who gets his jollies from making everyone on said forum pissed, may just quit after getting banned.

So the most likely solution is to simply ignore them, as the op says.

Yeah thats a very good point, but if the game gets big enough that they start racking in great amounts, then maybe they could bring out the ban hammer. The problem with this is that it may trample a little on non-paying customer's rights, as technically ALL members who are not directly involved in maintaining GLB have to be put on a level field in terms of their treatment under the rules, and non-paying players get kinda phased out more quickly than does who do pay. They need to wait until they get a significant amount of incoming revenue and profit and then keep everyone on the same page, but until then we get trolls galore.

So if we want trolls to go away by ignoring them, why are we making an entire thread dedicated to how important it is to ignore them?
