He hits 30yarders+ and extra points with ease but only has 50% on anything less than that. Whats wrong? Is it just the fact that he's a boomer means his long distance is easier than short? First kicker i've made so just want to make sure i'm doing it right. He's on a cpu team so don't care too much right now, but want to see if theres a mistake i've made.

1. AT has no effect on how your player plays. Only on what attributes are majors.
2. He's level 10. Did you think he would be perfect? Be thankful that you're perfect from 30+. It's actually kind of sad that a level 10 can go 5/5 from 30+, IMO.

As for the build, your kicking is way behind. it's the #1 attribute for a kicker. It needs to go to 77 natural at least. Confidence is the #2 attribute for a kicker.

Yeah I haven't finished with kicking, at least 77 was the plan, probably try and take it to 80. He'll be done with it by end of season. I've been multi training strength and confidence.

I wasn't expecting him to be perfect, I was expecting him to struggle on long FGs and smash short ones, yet the opposite happened. Just found it odd that you can hit 30+ and yet miss so many 20-29

It is odd, i'll give you that. But I've come to expect that from this game. I've seen kickers with terrible builds perform well and kickers with excellent builds perform poorly.
