WEPL Week 3 Preview

(2-0)Boston Punks vs. Speyside Whisky Dogs (2-0) (Match of the Day)

Alpha's top two passing Offenses go head to head in what promises to be a shoot out.

Spayside have been the class of the Conference so far, and all expectations are that they will control their own destiny this season.
A more than solid defense is the unsung hero, with so much attention being given to the dual threat offense seen early in the season,
but the Dogs Defense has already contributed 25 turnovers and 12 Def TDs in 2 games, and has only given up 7 points so far.

Punks look to be a well balanced outfit, strong across all positions and able to make the most out of what they got, the perfect recipe you might think for an underdog upset?
Well the Punks have only managed 4 sacks and 13 hurries this season, which must be cause for concern when facing the No.1 passing offense, but they have only been sacked 2 times and posses a powerful passing game themselves.
The Punks will represent a real test for the Dogs, who have had it easy with their schedule so far, Dogs have beaten two 0-2 teams while both the punks victories have come against teams who stand 1-1.

KEY MAN: Brock Awesome (Rushing QB)
Spayside look to be strong all through the Depth Chart, and not only do they own the No.1 Team passing offense in the Conf,
but they can also boast the No1 'Rusher' in QB Brock Awesome who has a Alpha Conf leading 358.5 yards total and a 23.9 yard avg.
The Punks must be wary of Brock on the ground http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1371777&pbp_id=2875645
while Brock has shown that he can also throw the rock, utilising screen plays effectively in their first 2 games.
While the starting QB Scrambled Eggs with Cheese will be the main threat all day to the Punks, its Brock who can be a instant game changer.

(1-1)Tulsa Black Sand Warlords vs. Gefion Fighting Danes (2-0)
In a contest between two of the top three passing defenses, the Danes top rated Rushing attack looks to be too strong for the Warlords who are 4th worst in the Conference defending the Run.

(1-1)E-City Mercenaries vs. Dirty South Brew Crew(0-2)
WEPL Originals E-City Mercs look too strong for the Brew Crew.
Mercs QB :Cay Jutler currently owns a 83.3% completion rating which is exceptional, while the Brew Crew are completing just 36.4% of their passes.

(1-1)LUX Borg vs. Bonn Dynamo (2-0)
LUX have had a poor start to the season, in part due to a lack of pressure from their D-line, which remains the only unit in the conference not to record a single sack in the first two games of the season,
and are allowing an avg 56.5 pts per game.
Bonn are looking strong and balanced, but they are excelling in the Returns game, and that might make the difference in a few games this season.

(1-1)Dirty South Wrecking Crew vs. Chesapeake Sea Serpents (1-1)
Serpents cant seem to pass, but they sure can run, while the Wrecking Crew cant run, but can pass.
Serpents seem to have the edge on the defensive side with the 4th best pass defense in the Conf.

(1-1)Machynlleth Black Dags vs. Fareham Demons (0-2)
Black Dags are battling against the lower level blues, and the Demons are coming off a hiding, this is a fresh start for both teams, and one the each would hope to win, but you have to worry for the loser.

(1-1)Carolina Blitz vs. Bratislava Hostiles (1-1)
Blitz will be hoping they can continue generating points on Def after getting 11 in the first two games. Blitz also lead the league in Sacks, with 34.
Only problem is they were mostly against a CPU team.
Hostiles boast one of the most accurate passing attempts, but have yet to fire on all cylinders this season.

(2-0)Black Sea Serpents vs. Mentone Beach Assault (2-0)

Black Sea gained 500 yards in their last game, but needed a Fumble recovery inside the last 2:40 to seal the win.
The Beach Assault are coming off a good win, and will be looking to go 3-0 behind a brutal running game.

Hi all,

Some of you will probably remember that I used to post Previews and Rankings all the time, and hopefully I will be able to do these for each game, please remember that I have only been back on GLB for a day or two, so I am not familiar with the teams yet, hence its only a brief preview for most match ups.

WEPL forums used to be the best in GLB, not one of the best but simply the best, (and as I was involved in most of the forums I feel justified in that claim) if nobody minds, I'd like to bring that back.

Nice to see you back here. We (the Graz Grizzlies) arrived here in season 6 I believe and we still remember you from then. In the meanwhile I think we are the team with the 3rd most seasons in WEPL (behind E-City and Korb).

Welcome back and looking forward to reading more.

I reckon by now you probably have more seasons in WEPL than Korb due to their frequent disappearance acts when they claim to play in some mysterious "World League"

You certainly know your stuff. Your key man pick proved quite prophetic as Brock had an epic day.
