So I just started a power tackling, hard hitting SS. He's level 4/4 and I've brought tackling up to the first cap. I was wondering what order I should bring his attributes up to their 4th cap.

I was thinking: (in this order)

Tackling to 73.5
Strength to 73.5
Speed to 73.5
Vision to 73.5

I think

Tackling to 73.5
Strength to 73.5
Speed to 73.5
Agility to 68
Vision to 73.5

or

Tackling to 73.5
Strength to 73.5
Speed to 73.5
Agility to 73.5
Vision to 68

Momentum plays a big roll in hitting hard and more agility = gains momentum faster. All EQ in speed of course.

Don't listen to this.

I'd do Tackling>Vision>Speed>Strength

Too much tackling! Not enough speed

The two things I've taken from this is a lot of disagreement and to bring Strength up last.

will have speed at a natural 84 at the end of his career... can you really argue for more speed on a Hard hitter? especially with most of his EQ going into Speed?

Is 125 not enough speed for a hard hitter?

Well it will work but the more speed the better.

Speed is where you will put most of your eq points anyway. Speed is a major. Capping Speed first gives you more room to use eq to adjust the build for future sims. Speed is still underrated in the force fumble process. Your dot is actually competetive/watchable the first 3-4 seasons. It's a no brainer.

I want 90+ natural tackling... let me experiment in peace.
Heavens forbid a defender dump SP's into speed SECOND! GASP!!!

120 speed, 100 tackling 75 vision, 73 agility 68 strength

dumping SP's in change direction to offset agility... If people think momentum is so important in the FF roll I plan to find out while also having high enough tackling to do some damage. Maybe I'll find out that hard hitters need strength... But I have trouble believing that right now.

If you're taking textbook tackler, which is a good idea because it's a very strong VA, then you want to do tackling early.
If you're taking football genius, which is a good idea because it's a very strong VA, then you want to do vision early.
There is plenty of eq to throw in speed and still get a good number while not doing it first, or even second. You can also compensate by taking it to 77 or higher if doing it third. You need a lot of time in between attributes 3 and 5 if you're doing multi training anyway.

Thus:

They do, but ~75-80ish is sufficient

There are better va's
There are better va's
Maybe your definition of "plenty" needs to be re-evalueated. Have you seen some of the new WR speed builds coming out? Unless we are talking a dedicated ST safety, you're gonna need every ALG in speed you can get.

What are these better VAs you speak of? Being able to add 7.5% on your second and third most valuable majors is something I'm pretty sure no other position can do. FBG is basically automatic for every single DB, and textbook makes perfect sense as a hard hitter who has tackling as a major and wants to cause damage while ensuring they make the tackle even on aggressive settings.
My definition of plenty rests around 135-140, which is easily achievable if you take speed up third, to 77, or second, to 73.
And I'm speaking of a hard hitter, which is obviously going to fill a different role on a defense than a zone specialist, but discounting players below a certain amount of some attribute is silly. Not every WR is going to be at 160 speed, and even the ones that are won't be achieving those numbers consistently.
