Clearly, this is not something I want them to do ... but I want to answer this question for my team. Do they get auto-kicked from the team if they are not Lvl 1 at season roll-over? Any information regarding this would be helpful.

Yes, they get auto-kicked at rollover if you boost in the season 17 offseason. However, you can boost them in the season 18 preseason and they will be fine.

I'm not so sure about that, players can only be signed at 0 XP, I think you can boost whenever they are on the team....

This is correct. Anyone over level 1 at season 17 rollover will be booted for season 18.
