my first P.he is only lvl 4. my question is in regards to the punting style slider in tactics.

we arent worried about it at this lvl of course, but I want to get a feel for how it can be set best later on . I'm sure I'll play around with it and watch replays but still......

what do you guys use and why and based of what #'s? I mean. is there a ratio I should be looking for as far as when I am finally working on Str after getting punting and conf and vision taken care of to have the best hang time VS distance? and any insight into how the slider effects kicking coffin punts?

thanks for any help.

I find the slider to be a problem. Not enough flexibility to have the P make a normal decision.

Going heavy on the hang time works OK sometimes but I found that me P was less likely to go for CC's when he was, lets say, at midfield. In this scenario he is still insistent on lofting a kick that may get returned. At that part of the field this does not make me happy. A real life punter would say "fuck this hang time BS, I need to nail them inside the 10." Ah but no. With a heavy hang time slider he lofts a 35-40 yarder that may actually get returned depending on coverage versus a CC attempt that, even if it only makes it to the 15 yard sideline (i.e., a crappy punt) is still a better net performance.

In short, I just kick the shit out of it and more often than not the kick is either out of bounds or the extra distance results in a net that is comparable to sending out a floater with a shorter return. No science or formulas here. Just my observation having played with the slider over several seasons.
