Is there anything I could do to him to make him a better player.

Strength is criminally low. Cap that next.

I'd train jumping/strength till you get them capped.

Then cap catching.

I like Sure Tackler as your VA, but I admit, I've never seen anyone use Technique Man for a FS. Unless your FS is game planned to blitz often, I'd reset it for Football Genius.

I was trying it out for pre-season games. I didn't even notice a change.

Strength kinda got lost there for awhile.

First - I'd go with football genius and david vs goliath for VA's.

Second - get jumping to at least 40 so you can get ball hawk. Then probably strength.

I got rid of DG and TM, switch it for FG and DVG.

Good

Pretty solid build--would cap vision next while training strength up a bit.

you need to get STR and JUM up. both helps getting PDs and INTs and STR helps you tackle. i'd aim to get STR to the first cap (48) and JUM to at least 61 on a coverage FS.

I'd take your vision to the 78 cap as soon as possible while training Strength or Jumping. Then cap Jumping to 61 followed by strength to 48.
