I'm new and I'm making a shutdown man-to-man corner. What attributes should I focus on first? Also, should I wait to put any points into my attributes, or put them in right away? Thanks in advance.

I keep reading about 'scripts' and such. Where do i get those?

(Just my opinion, some people will say spd/agi to 77. With today's faster pro WRs speed to 77 might be a good idea.)

That'll get you started. Hold your initial skill points and train speed until you have enough points to first cap it (48).

this. i personally only go 68/68, and then take vision to 73. but 73/73 will still leave you plenty of time to round out. especially with the new extended plateau.

So, should I wait until I can go to the 2nd or 3rd cap before I put in the points? Also, about how many plays per game will I need to get the full XP amount?

As soon as you can reach the first cap do it. You will lose SP from ALGs if you wait to cap.

Cool, thanks. I think that's the way I wanted to go anyways.

If this is your first player I'd suggest against slow building. It won't be fun for the first 4 seasons or so for any position. For a coverage CB it won't be fun for the first 8 or so.
