For a pass rushing DE should my tactics be set to play the run or pass?

Who are you? You say that a lot and we have disagreed on like one thing.

well i guess its mostly on CBs that you and i disagree(d). i was around way back in the day when you and LH had your huge arguments, and lets just say i usually sided with him more than you (although you might not remember me because 1. you were pretty busy with LH, and 2. i wasnt quite as outspoken and insistent upon insulting the other side's intelligence just because of a disagreement). im still right there with him on most things regarding CBs. he and i dont agree on everything, but you and i disagreed on a lot more things than he and i did, so i kind of find it surprising that, CBs aside, we actually agree on a lot.

OIC. I think i do remember you now that you say that. LH corners aren't that great really. and he acts like he is the best on the game. He likes boring shut down corners. not everyone on this game wants a boring shut down corner. I like corners who can INT and are more dynamic.

i think they are pretty good... in fact without even discussing things, his builds and my builds usually turn out eerily similar. but are they the best ion the game? nah, i think alloy showed us all up when he opened his builds.

and i dont think i ever remember him saying that shutdown corners are the only way to go. in the early sim, maybe. we didnt really know a ton about the mechanics and rolls to get a good grasp on much else. i just remember you guys arguing about speed/agility ratios. you liked high speed, lower agility with some CD, and he liked speed to be higher than agility, but only by ~10 (which worked wonderfully up until archetypes were introduced.)

but now that we do have a pretty good idea of how things work, i know he isnt just doing shutdown CBs. for example, i know he has an INT CB... i dont think it has rounded out yet though. and him and i and rob and others have discussed HH CBs and blitzing CBs, and zone CBs and all sorts of other build types.

but im right there with you as far as liking dynamic CBs. heck my first CB, im pretty sure holds the record for most INTs in an 11 season career (from creation to decline)... so you know i love my INTs

but back to the OP as to not completely derail this thread, reminiscing about the good ol' days, pass rushing DEs, should always play pass. it gives them a bonus to passing their play recognition checks which will help them get to the QB faster.
