I would say more PD's than tackles. Pepper in a few picks, pro bowler baby!

There is no measure. Gotta watch plays.
If you go by PDs vs tackles, you're not accounting for run tackles, or ints, or tackling WRs he wasn't covering

I would say watching his replays and charting how well he performs in coverage.

Or passes he gave up, but didn't make the tackle on.

There is a good script out there to filter all plays by a single player. In essence, when processed, every play you watch would have your CB in it. I then click on replays where the ball was passed.

Basically, its "must have" for an agent of a CB dot.

--

Tackles occur during runs too much, so the argument doesn't really hold water. Also, are you really taking away half the field if you have so many PD's? Until BORT reprograms the game and allows us to see how many times our CB dots are thrown on v plays made, stats are meaningless.

I agree with comments on watching replays, but PD to tackle ratio is as good as you can do with via stats. Though a true shutdown corner shouldn't have too many of either stat, because their man shouldn't be open.

TD's given up is always something to pay attention to. If your CB has a good few PD and int's, but gives up a TD everytime the other team is in the rz, then I'd say you don't have a great CB.

Not to brag too much (he's only level 32), but the season this player is having:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1774994

7 tackles and 16 PD's this season. He has games with no stats at all. I track more advanced stats in an excel spreadsheet. Of the 18 times he's been thrown at (avg 2/game), he's allowed two catches all season, and intercepted 1 ball. The only big play he gave up was because I forgot to take him off Aggressive for a more serious game, and he whiffed an interception. Still deflected it, but the WR caught the tip and went 80 yds with it before the FS caught him. Had he been on semi-aggressive there's no doubt in my mind that would have been just another standard PD.

I know its Pee Wee but its a sign that you should not pay attention on anything as superficial as stats

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2123585

67 tackles and 13 PDs
15 of the tackles are on STs
10 of the tackles are on rushes
20 of the tackles are on passes to HBs or FBs
5 of the tackles are on the #3WR while playing as #1CB

Here is a CB with 50 tackles that are not on the WR he is supposed to be covering. So you can't just judge on stats.

(Catches Allowed)/(Thrown At) is a stat every shutdown corner should track.

I wish there was a less time consuming manner in which to track these numbers.

Not true with Cash Clements and Deion Sanders. They stop the run shutting down sweeps and keep receptions low.

Edited: Look at the replays for proof. Not saying my CB's are the best but they are pretty good builds to this point.

Believe me, I used to bug Pabst about this back in single-digit seasons. Its the issue with Rev Cakes where there is no specific data to cull in GreaseMonkey. They'd have to use co-ordinates to determine who was closest and that's in no way accurate.

Honestly it should be part of the game itself.
