Since the position forums are beyond dead, I figured I'd ask here.

I just filled up on bruiser for my powerback and was wondering what VA's you guys with powerbacks have had success with?

Bruiser is by far the best, Steady Grip is a must because it gives you .5% per point...then SYM is important when you get to AAA and beyond. At lower levels SYM isn't all that necessary.

Beyond that, Tenacious is popular.....shed weight is horrble, and then you have a bunch of ones that might or might not help your player...kind of up to you based on his build.

Bruiser/Steady Grip/SYM/Tenacious imo

Goalline Back, Mr. First Down & Quick Feet all have their uses too. Quick Feet obv only if you have points/AEQ in Spin.

Debatable that Goalline Back could surpass SYM if you don't have spin as well.

Steady Grip and SYM are the best options imo.

I love Bruiser, but are we sure it works preventing tackles BEHIND the line of scrimmage? The wording is rather nebulous in that regard--"within 8 yards of the line of scrimmage" in Bort's version of English MIGHT mean "from 0-8" (on the positive side of the line of scrimmage with NO EFFECT to what happens behind the line).

I always took it as +/- 8 yards, so there are 16 yards where he's getting the benefit, right where you're PB should be...

That makes good sense if we're simply looking at it in English. But Bort's description of items has been off more than once in terms of the way he really coded something. Look at it this way--most rushing FBs are rocking +15 in that VA, which in theory raises the break-tackle roll in a pretty big way. Yet tackles-for-loss are usually still a problem for rushing FBs.

Interpretation in this game is a bitch
