What's best: distance or hang time?

Depends on the punter and the team. If you got a guy that has great consistency and your team can provide solid coverage, I'd go for the distance but if you have a team that can't cover anything past 40 yards and your guy is prone to giving up touch backs, I'd slide it towards hang time. It's about finding out what nets the most yards for your own situation.

Hang time for a technician and distance for a boomer seems to fit together in a way

100% distant is the way to go.

Doesn't matter what type of punter.

Yes. I could see if a punter was set at 'hard' he could over kick and shank the ball. Not sure if hard is the way to go for kickers. Lord knows it doesn't help my golf game and I think kicking is more like that sport vs football
I'm going to try normal for our final exh game and will report back.

You misunderstand what it means to this game.

Hard gives a + to attributes and decreases energy quicker. A K/P isn't on the field enough to worry about stamina/energy. Hell, every dot in this game should be playing on hard.

And if he's on hard, he's more likely to kick a coffin corner punt than not.

I've only had one punter so far, but I have to agree. It always seemed like the short, hang time punts got returned for TD's way more often than a long punt.

Depends on the opponent. If they have a returner who is a threat to bring one back, a high hang time rating (75-85 I found works well) helps your punt coverage team with stopping the retun for TD. And if your don't belive me, check out my punters awards. Ran him for 4 seasons, and have a trophy for each season
