I want to get started now coordinating the Season 16 Cup. Hopefully Gongadan will be helping again, as he knows his stuff and helps quite a bit.

The first thing I want to address is scheduling conflicts. This includes not declining scrimmage offers from other teams that would potentially land on a tournament day.

- Scrimmages can not be unscheduled. Not even by Bort.
- The scheduler will not allow me to force a game for you if you have a pending scrim invite

Now, I have always tried to work around these issues so no one gets forfeited. The problem is that sometimes, it's impossible to work around an issue, because your opponent may not have any other free days around your scheduled date. So, it starts to appear to people that we are biased - forfeiting some people, and not others.

Especially this season, where a team that should have forfeited by rule ended up winning the whole thing. And, I understand their point of view on why it seemed unfair to only forfeit them.

So.. long winded.. but I want to have a SET IN STONE policy on this. What do you all think?

Do we set hard dates and forfeit teams, regardless of round - even the finals - if they goof? Do we allow goofs for teams after a certain round? Do we always allow them, and hold up the tournament in favor of making sure all games are played?

I want to hear from you all, and we can vote or just go with general consensus, or whatever.

Let me know by the end of Sunday.

I vote that if a team has accepted a scrim for the day of a tourney game that they get DQ'ed. I honestly don't see why people can't leave these days open on their calendar.

UNLESS something on the tourney/GLB end forces the tourney gamedays to be changed from the original posting. (This has happened before, and could very well happen again; it wouldn't be fair to penalize a team for having scheduled a scrimmage on a day that was originally posted as a non official gameday).

AND the scrimmage days are posted PRIOR to the first day to schedule scrims. If dates don't get posted until a few days after you can schedule scrimmages, then you can't punish teams for not being able to see the future.

HOWEVER, if a scrim cannot be scheduled b/c the involved team has a proposed (not accepted, but not yet denied, because you can't really control another team sending you a scrimmage), that they be given a pass and the game scheduled ASAP.

Dirty was a team that got force forfeited 2 seasons ago. Seeing what happened this season I was asking myself wth? But in all fairness, I don't feel it necessary to force forfeit anyone. Lets face it, if your not in Gold and your an up and coming Pee Wee team joining and doing well in many tourny's is a way to get some instant credibility. Participating in many tournaments for a new coach or inexperienced coach/owner, I can understand how the confusion in dates happens. I say instead of hard locking the DAY to play that you give a 3 day spread for a round to be played.

I think this is only for the PeeWee Cup, which is only for the top teams. So there won't be any new Owners/Coaches. The Owners of these top teams should already know how to keep their schedule in order, I think Hard Dates and Forfeitures is the way to go. Only exception would be if a team sent you a scrim while you weren't on, and you haven't gotten back online to decline it yet, as Ping mentioned in his last point. Also, the other points Ping mentioned are valid, but I don't remember the schedule ever changing? Maybe my team was out by then.

Good call. Official thread is now up, outlining the schedule.

Out of curiosity, anyone think it'd be a good idea to expand to 40 teams and 5 team pools (thus four games each minimum) instead of 32 teams with 4 team pools?

I stand by my decision to make it work with Deep Throw It and not make them forfeit. Even though they kicked my butt, I'd do it again.
