Project Next Gen – The Second Wave
Project Next Gen (PNG) is a project I started several seasons ago with a group of close agents. The purpose of PNG was to build a second generation team from scratch with other dedicated players, while trying to maximize the enjoyment of the game and renew our passion for GLB.
Our first team, the Black River Basilisks, is well under way and we are having a great time moving up the caps. Now it is time for our second wave of players for PNG. We are looking for dedicated agents to join our long term project and I figured this would be the best place to look for them.
Details of the team:
1. All players are created on day 41 of season 16. We hold a player selection draft in our private forum.
2. We will be playing on this team: http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=517
We will likely pick a new team name and make a new avatar, depending on what the rest of the agents (including you) vote on.
3. All agents get GM status for the team if they want it.
4. All agents are encouraged to try their hand at scouting, OCing, DCing, and setting up special teams. Agents are allowed to do as much or as little as they want with as much or as little guidance as they feel they need.
5. This team will play as long as it can with the agents it has. Once decline sets in, all players will retire and the team will start over with another wave of players. We will not establish farm teams to feed into high level teams. The goal of this project is to have 1 team that plays for as long as it can with the same agents/players. No recruiting (unless we have people drop from the project), no farm teams, no mergers. We might not make it to the highest leagues, but that isn’t the point. We want to replicate the enjoyment we had in season 1, building dots and playing other developing teams. We aren’t looking for the stress of trying to replace rosters, fighting decline, hunting for exploits, or spending hours game planning.
Agent expectations:
1. All players are expected to have full customs and boost throughout the life of their players.
2. All players are expected to boost from 1 to 4 on the last day of season 16 (even though there is only a slight advantage to doing this, it is still an advantage and will give us more skill points earlier so we can build quicker).
3. Everyone is expected to be an active agent who will at least notify the team before going inactive for an extended period of time.
4. All agents are expected to be active participants in the forums. This includes participating in build discussions and team-related decisions. I really want this to be the main focus of our second wave. Keeping the forums active and fun is way more enjoyable than watching dots if everyone contributes.
5. All agents are expected to be respectful and honest.
6. All agents are expected to be assertive, straightforward, and timely about any problems or concerns they have regarding team management, other agents, or the direction of the team. This applies specifically to anyone wanting to leave the project.
7. All agents are expected to participate in team avatars if we do them. This includes filling out any templates, choosing jersey numbers, selecting an avatar picture, and uploading the finished custom avatar.
8. All agents are expected to follow basic naming guidelines for their players (i.e. no ridiculous names, no numbers, no all caps, etc.). This also includes following any themes that the team may decide upon.
9. All agents are expected to stick with the team until they decline and retire. This is a long term project that requires long term commitment.
10. All agents are expected to have fun and be an active part of our family.
What happens next?
If you are willing and able to meet the above expectations and you think this might be an interesting project, here’s what happens next.
1. You get an invite to our PNG private forum. This is where all our project related information is.
2. Look over the detailed positions, which describes all the players we will need for the team.
3. Find the draft signup thread and post in there with a list of all the players that you’d like to make if they are available.
4. Wait for the draft thread to be opened and your spot to come up (all members are notified via PM).
5. Pick the player you want when your spot comes up.
6. Make your player on day 41 of season 16.
7. Accept the contract from the team.
8. Post around in the forums and have a good time.
9. ???
10. Profit.
So if you are interested in potentially joining this project, just post here or send me a PM and I’ll send you the private forum invite.
Joining the private forum isn’t a commitment to the project, so even if you’re not sure, join the private forum and have a look around. If it isn’t for you, let me know and that’ll be it, no hard feelings. You can stay in the PF if you like and maybe join up for another wave in the future. Or I can remove you from the PF if you want.
Here is some information about me as an owner so that you can get to know me a little before deciding if you are interested in joining.
About Me:
1. I'm 25, married, and a graduate student.
2. I spend a ridiculous amount of time on GLB (when I'm working, probably about 4 hours - when I'm off, probably about 8). On the weekends, I'm F5ing all day until my fingers bleed.
3. I always try to be honest, genuine, and respectful with my players.
4. I value communication. I do my best to be clear about everything, to inform players about every decision we make, and to provide the team with as much information as I can.
5. I love this game. Despite it's flaws, I am passionate about this game and having fun with it. I'm not a hardcore player in the sense that I want every loltrophy I can get. I just want to have fun and expand my network. The social aspect of this game is probably the most rewarding.
6. I am open to feedback. I don't have an e-go or e-pride. I make mistakes and I'm happy to hear any feedback that players have if it means improving the team or the experiences of the players.
7. I am a stickler about some details. I don't have to control every little thing you or your player do, but I am persistent about some things. I have been known to be picky about team avatars and player names, so please bear with me on that. I also put out a lot of information and suggestions. In particular, I spend a lot of time making build plan suggestions for every player. I don't expect that everyone follow them to the letter, but I do expect that players at least look it over to get a sense of what the team needs are.
8. I type a lot. I can't help it, this is just who I am. It takes me a long time to get to my point. Maybe I just like the feel of my keyboard, or I'm just a wordy guy. Be prepared for that.
9. I try to keep the forums active. I post a lot of games and activities when I can.
10. I like lists.
11. I'm not exactly well-known around GLB circles, because I don't spam the main forums or troll as much as maybe I could. I have worked with some top agents (including several members of the GLB addicts and WL teams) in the game though and I've been an active part of GLB since season 1. Some of the agents in South America Pro may also be able to vouch for me as my team, the Pará Sharks, was an upper-mid tier team for several seasons there.
12. I have about a 90% approval rating from the agents who have worked with me in the past. The only problems I've had with agents before has come from issues related to clashes in style (i.e. agents who don't like lots of suggestions, team avatars, or name restrictions), which is understandable. I'm not for everyone, but I try to make everyone happy as best I can.
TL; DR:
1. We are starting our 2nd wave of players for this project. We are making players on day 41 of this season and we will be boosting and using customs.
2. We are picking those players through a draft system in our private forum.
3. If you are active and want to join a long term project with agents that want to have fun, post here or PM me.
