chronoaug made some comments about how boring GLB was becoming. I get tired of people complaining about something but never offering a solution so I decided to hold his feet to the fire a bit. To his credit, he followed it up with some substance. Here are some off the cuff comments he made:

Well, i was suggesting in previous seasons in various threads about player cash and stuff like that to be able to do non-sim related player customization. Of course not everyone would utilize it fully because they want to ensure nothing but sim success but i felt that many casual agents, new agents and player only agents would enjoy it. It would hopefully start with better replays and then you can add customization to your player with non-sim rpg elements, change the way he looks on the field, little "collect them all" kinda things that you can unlock via performance on the field or mini-games and some other stuff. I thought player cash and to an extent team cash could be used for this.

I mean, what owner wouldn't enjoy customizing the team more. Put in easier ways to make fields/helmets/logos or other team functions that show up in the new flash replays on the field (but don't directly effect the sim). I mean, Cav had a bunch of fun adjusting Alpine's new logo and fiddling with it this season. There have to be other applications that work.

Obviously the core of the game would be the main sim but if you want players to have more things to do so they don't get bored, why not allow them some goofy collector type things. I mean, RPGs have a main quest and even side quests but a lot of potential hours logged are spent by people trying to be completion or hunt for useless (in terms of main story) treasures and crap like that to unlock something.

There are i'm sure a lot of other things but i haven't really thought deeply about it. Also, it's why i figure an experience professional game designer would be nice. Someone who has worked on MMOs and/or sports games before. Someone who could figure stuff out better.

There have got to be some great ideas floating around out there. Any other thoughts or ideas to make the GLB experience more fun?

was all that get blitz stuff on that site serious? It seemed like it was done as a joke by a GLBer. I really really hope that wasn't them or i fear a bit more for the minds behind glb

You do see the Shop tab up in the red bar on top of your screen right? Don't know when it got there, but they must be serious.

Did they lower the prices or remove something? I thought i remember there being something ridiculously stupid/expensive when someone showed me a few months ago.

Also, wouldn't have been that much more work to figure out like 1-2 decent tshirt designs instead of a bunch of crappy ones, or even hold a "tshirt design contest" and have something like 5000 flex be the prize. Less but better thought out items is a better strategy than random cafepress stock crap

I dont like change after change after "WAIT THIS IS A GREAT IDEA LETS DO IT TOMORROW" change.

Dont get me wrong, some change is good but these fucking massive overhauls that we get to areas of the game almost weekly push people away too.

something......ANYTHING to get rid of too many blowouts at all levels of league play below the WL.

I have some farm team dots level 50+. I will continue to develop those and if competition isnt fixed once they are ready to retire I plan to leave GLBoring.

I wont be rage-quitting, just leaving because of boredom. People hating me is the only thing i enjoy about GLB right now, until the playoffs start and you see more close games.

There is stuff that would seem to be simple which still isn't implemented, like position specific league stats. Gee I wonder how my receiving TE is doing compared to others in the league, why don't I click through every team so I can find out.

Now with competition being in the toilet in a lot of leagues, it doesn't matter I guess.

Not to discount some of the "chrome" ideas (and they are good ideas, don't get me wrong), but I have always been a "functional game" over a "look pretty" game type of person. I don't care how great the graphics are on a game, but if it doesn't play worth a lick, then it is worthless.

I think the biggest thing they could do to help rekindle interest is get the competitive balance back into the leagues. Simply too many games off, blow outs, etc. Each conference is always going to have a doormat or two, but if you can make 13-14 of the games be up for grabs where each team has a chance to win, then its going to make the season far more enjoyable. The most fun I have had for seasons have been these types of seasons; not the ones where we either got the snot kicked out of us for most of the games or we kicked ass with little effort. The other thing that goes along with this is to try to cut down on some of the team movement and allow teams to redevelop rivals again.

I know all this is easier said than done, but it is one of the big things at the heart of the issue.

I second this. My AA team is getting it's competition from tournaments rather than the regular season.

I wonder why GLB has not changed their flex-point pricing. Doesn't every store change teh price of their products to reflect the current market value or guess as to what it will be in the future. Although, I guess flex sales count as changing price.

Close the skill gap between a lv.1 and lv50 to bring more parity but I guess the longer plateau would solve this.
