Texan's Week 2 Picks
Current Record: 15-1
By popular demand, welcome to grunge week.
Naga
Tibet (1-0) v Golden Hill (0-1): Tibet topped the century mark in scoring last week and now faces a team that gave up more than 100 to Tet. They are not liking the T teams right now and feeling "Down a Hole" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8hT3oDDf6c while Tibet is looking for an "Even Flow" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxKWTzr-k6s of 100+ point games. Welcome to SEAPL. Tibet 85, Golden Hill 6.
Monks (1-0) v HKH (1-0): Speaking of 100+ point efforts, PDM joined that club last week while HKH had a dogfight against their lolgaruda opponent. Last season HKH lost to the Monks by 40+, but they have improved this season. Of course, so have the Monks unless their week 1 effort was "Overblown" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UOcM1pwClw and I don't think it was. HKH will have to get on their "Rocket" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg8q8WTkDY8 to jet past he Monks. Monks 52, HKH 17.
Phuket (1-0) v CMM (1-0): Phuket is also on the not-so-short list of teams that topped the century mark against lolgaruda, while CMM also picked up a much more hard-fought win. This should actually be one of the more interesting and close games of the week as I see it and I expect the winner to threaten to be .500 or better for the season. Will Phuket "Shove" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eM9LTi2dA8 CMM from the ranks of the undefeated or do the Mountain Men beat some "Violet" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwzMuDi7PcU bruises all over that Phuket ass? CMM 38, Phuket 28.
PDP (1-0) v Teabaggers (0-1): PDP started off in solid fashion with a win over a playoff-type garuda team while VT put up a very respectable fight against Buffalo. While Portland is a notch or two above Buffalo this season, "All I Know" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwvlUEm_fmA is that I saw signs from VT that they could pull some unexpected upsets this season. PDP hopes to "Stay Away" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODTv9Lt5WYs from that scenario here though and superior line play should help accomplish that. PDP 38, Teabaggers 10.
SLS (1-0) v Saigon (1-0): It seems a bit early for a showdown between two of Naga's top contenders but here it is, so get out your air popper and a little extra butter. Both teams won convincingly in week 1, as expected. Last season Saigon won this matchup 34-6 and both teams have improved since then. Will Saigon shoot SLS "Between the Eyes" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4rYIyCZNTc again or does their dream of an undefeated season come "Undone" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHQqqM5sr7g at the hands of the Snakeheads? As much as I respect SLS, Saigon looks pretty unstoppable right now. Saigon 35, SLS 10.
Alabama (1-0) v The Blue (1-0): Two teams with solid first week wins collide in what should be another of the better games of the week. It's blue versus red like Luke and Vader but will the outcome be the same? The Blue probably thinks Alabama is just some "Backwater" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-HFbNhTTKQ team but they should definitely take them seriously as I like that D. Alabama meanwhile better "Just" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIFLtNYI3Ls bring their A game if they want to have a shot in this one. I think Alabama is one of the better new teams but they are giving it up in the talent category here imo. The Blue 27, Alabama 20.
Bacolod (1-0) v Mekong (0-1): Bacolod looked impressive against a rebuilding Manila team while Mekong clearly is not trying to compete this season. Bacolod, just "Come as You Are" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vabnZ9-ex7o to this one as no AI changes will be necessary. Mekong, "All Apologies" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWmkuH1k7uA but I think it's going to be a long season. Bacolod 160, Mekong 3.
Cambodia (0-1) v Semarang (0-1): Both teams had a rough first week of their Pro career but both ended up looking like legitimate pro teams. It's been a long time since Semarang had any number other than 0 in the loss the column as their "Stars" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYusYLhgAsI on D let them down against TKW. However, if Cambodia is planning to "Wait for the Fade" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMkTr3r7fV4 of Semarang's aging roster, they probably are not in luck here. Semarang's lines are still too beastly for them to lose this one I think. Semarang 45, Cambodia 20.
garuda
Tet (1-0) v Bangalore (1-0): This is another meeting of top teams that seems a bit early in the season for my tastes. Both won convincingly their first game and they are probably the top two teams in garuda. Last season Bangalore eeked out a 13-10 win in the regular season, then lost in the second round of the playoffs to Tet 42-34, so both games were close and entertaining. Will Tet's offense bring the "Pepper" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7in-hH2q8I this time like in the playoff game or will they "Drown" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdDA9KNPo-I under Bangalore's defensive pressure like in their first meeting last season? From what I have seen of Tet's offense, I can't see anyone holding them down this time. Tet 45, Bangalore 28.
Buffalo (1-0) v Munich (0-1): SEAPL stalwart Buffalo got their usual W to start this season last week while Munich put up a good fight with SLS but were just over matched. Buffalo is not quite the team SLS is this season from what I can tell but they are a real threat to be a home playoff team as usual and Munich will once again have all they can handle. That said, I think this is on the short list for good games this week. Will that "Love Boat Captain" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMqdLu4Qym8 VJ have his team ready to go or should they get ready to apply the "Glycerine" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4hi_YnX7tw and bend over? Buffalo 24, Munich 23.
Lucid (1-0) v Manila (0-1): Two teams with many seasons of Pro experience collide in this one, but heading different directions right now. Manila is rebuilding and hoping their chem heals in time for a playoff run while Lucid came out firing week 1. Either way Manila will of course still be "Alive" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbhsYC4gKy4 after this one but I think they'd have to pull out some kind of "Monkey Trick" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMR0J2bYDj4 to win this one. Lucid 65, Manila 20.
TKW (1-0) v Sweatshop (0-1): TKW showed there is life in the old girl yet as they shocked Semarang and their massive 60 game win streak in week 1. I really sold them short there. The Sweatshop meanwhile wishes they could have just cut their first game short at halftime and called it good as they got whacked something fierce by Saigon. "I Stay Away" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODTv9Lt5WYs from counting out the Sweatshop based on that game as Saigon will do that same thing many times this season. TKW meanwhile now has the attention of the other top garuda teams and I think even my "Baby Takes" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWqY8Okokl4 TKW here. TKW 55, Sweatshop 30.
Dummies (0-1) v Shiroyama (0-1): These two teams have the same record but it appears not all is equal. Shiroyama got run right out of town week 1 and all the way to "Chapel Hill" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBivMTOOZFo while the Dummies put up a game defensive effort but could get no offense going against Alabama. Honestly I would expect the Dummies to push Shiroyama even farther away, like "Possum Kingdom" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkwD5rQ-_d4 this time around. Dummies 42, Shiroyama 13.
Flint (0-1) v Singapore (0-1): Flint damn near notched another win for lolgaruda week 1 against CMM but fell just short while Singapore looked respectable against PDP. Both of these teams have playoff potential and the winner has a leg up while the loser has the "Cumbersome" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjNn4bbbgSw task of coming back from an 0-2 start. Look for the Canes to bring out the big guns and try to "Cannonball" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AsId-qVIb4 Flint here, but it sure won't be easy. Singapore 24, Flint 21.
Reapers (0-1) v Empire (0-1): Both teams lost week 1 and I don't think we really learned much about their chances in garuda. One of them could certainly still "Creep" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFkzRNyygfk up in a weak garuda conference this season while the loser might want to consider switching to art like "Andy Warhol" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMinUj71f3A or something. Empire 30, Reapers 23.
Johor (0-1) v San Francisco (0-1): This one gets my vote for freaking terrible game of the week as both teams basically got chopped up into "Doll Parts" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mEbVJxsMQM week 1. Watching "Lightning Crashes" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsJ4O-nSveg might be more entertaining. Ok, maybe that was a bit harsh, sorry guys! San Francisco 30, Johor 10.
