Do you plan on sticking around AAA or do you want him in a pro league? Both strength and tackling ought to be a bit higher if you plan on going pro. The SA's I'd give a boost to would be FS and CD as both will give you a nice bonus to your high agility.

Pro depends on how well his team does the next two seasons.
Or I might take him to the WL team I Head Coach.
Not really sure. And this was the first D player I ever created (Hell, I've only got TWO.)
OLine guys are much, much easier to build.
My thoughts were to get strength to 60+, tackling 50+, then hit some more SAs.
But I wanted to see what the consensus might be around here.
Thanks, jack.

Swat Ball and Super Vision > strength imo.

That is pretty much the plan I have with my CB (lvl 60). From what I've been hearing though, I'm starting to wonder if it'd be better to reverse it? 60 tackle/50ish strength that is.

Btw, I agree with you Dj, but all 3 are needed and considering strength will help more than just his coverage ability, getting that up would be the #1 priority to me.

Um . . . yeah, that's not true. Unless the sim changes are huge, 48 tackling is more than enough. 50 strength is good, but you could go closer to 60; however, there are more pressing concerns. SB, SV, SDC, and CD all need to come up. Try to aim for 10, 10, 13, 6, respectively.

FS doesnt help CBs... like at all. its almost more of a necessary evil to get CD up than anything. and his strength/tackling is actually not that bad for pro. my lvl 63 went pro with str/tkl around there. he missed 16 tackles (all on PBs on sweeps), but ~50/50 should generally get the job done. but SAs for sure. work on those, and get those to 10-X-10-X-10, X-(6 or 8)-X-X-X. X's meaninf as low as you can keep them while still getting the other SAs up to where you want them.

To each his own on that I suppose, but those 16 missed tackles means your guy missed just shy of 25% of tackles he went for on the season, which is more than I'd want for my dot. Maybe I should have specified "a bit" for ya'll. Roughly 60 strength and 50ish tackling.

Also, the sim adjustment that will "Make tackling skill a bit more important to making tackles, as opposed to strength" is a potiential reason to consider getting tackling a little higher than we've been used to. Hell I want it higher for my CB because I added MH for his extra SA. Strength also helps with getting into position to make plays so having it be 60 or so based soley on that isn't a bad idea.

well none of those misses went for TDs. the safeties/LBs were always there to clean up the mess. its not a CBs job to take down PBs, imo. if he can most of the time (and ~84% is most of the time) id say he is doing his job and then some.

and strength doesnt help you get in position. thats gonna be speed and agility, and vision to an extent as it will give you more time to get into position (on top of countering fakes to help keep you on your man). strength is just part of the PD roll (i think... LHF probably knows more on the subject than i do), and the KL roll (which is supposedly a carbon copy of the FF roll), but strength itself isnt going to help you get into position. but it is going to help you once you get there.

but all in all, 50/60 or reversing those numbers is pretty much the ceiling for your typical shut down CB. you dont really have much room in a good build to take either of those much higher. especially now that man specs dont get strength ALGs.

at this point you need to get those Sa's up, dont listen to the non sense of wasting SP on STR/TAK ... train them if you want them higher

1.SV/SDC(10+ each if possible)
2.CD(6-8)
3.SB(8+)

FS is a waste, its only relatively important because of its relation to CD

yeah I have a 61 CB in WL currently the interceptions ldr. I rarely miss tackles and my str and tackling are only at 50

I'd pick more tackling over strength if you were going to increase either (you could actually intense train that combo and get decent training gains). Definitely hit the SA's, Swat Ball and Super Vision.
