:\ do you really only care about your performance now instead of your long-term success?

My guy had almost a hundred hurries last season with just a few sacks. The two DEs who played with me racked up more than 100 sacks together. So I like to think I mustve been doing somethin right.

if you're a pass rusher, you need to get your agility and speed up. Agility for getting around the defender, speed for getting to the quarterback. Leave strength alone for now. Mainly get agility up though!

get used to it. QBs will throw a baby off a cliff before taking a sack in this game
just be happy that your hurries are making the pass a little bit worse
invest in speed/agility for the next 30 levels, good luck have fun

There should be a FAQ on this as this is answered every season:
This game is nerfed by Bort that DEs will simply not get a ton of sacks no matter what the build is. Someone did a test and build a high level DE going against a low level OT that is played by a punter, and the sack numbers are similar.
I suspect you can have 150 str, spd, and agi and 80 on sta, vis, conf, tak and your numbers will remain relatively the same.
At the end it's not about builds anymore, but Bort's tendency to play god and make sure there are "realistic" numbers from game to game.

seriously, why are you here if you have nothing to add. GTFO.
Thanks for the responses, I'll keep hammering agility and speed...

Dude, I have a reason for saying this and I INSIST on the question.
Do you just want to succeed now instead of in the long term? Because the answer to this question changes the answers we should give back to you.
I am not being some sort of bully or troll or whatever, whether you realize it or not your build isn't headed the right way simply because you didn't exactly slowbuild properly. You've spread points around, spent points in SPs, did all the mistakes rookies do in this game _UNLESS_ you know exactly what you are doing and don't care about the long-term success in order to do well now.
So again, DO YOU WANT TO WIN NOW, OR WANT WHAT IS BEST FOR YOUR PLAYER IN THE LONG TERM?

Not sure I totally agree with this, but you do have valid points.
My level 27 DE had season totals of 175 sacks, 135 hurries, and 20 FF's in a cap-equivalent league last year. The strange thing about it though, you would have thought the rest of the defense would have had similar success, but my totals "almost" equaled the rest of the team combined.
Can't explain the success, maybe it was a bug of sorts, but it did happen.
To critique your build, as that is what this thread started as;
Get all of your EQ into speed or agility [ pick one and stick with it], this early strength isn't going to impact your ability to fight off the LOT. You can look to divide your EQ later in your build, but right now, with the OT's being built into their str/blk att's...you can easily beat them around the corner with enough speed and agility.
DO NOT put any more SP's into SA's. You need to wait until you're at least double your current level IMO. Those are points you need right now.
Vision, vision, vision....let me say it again...vision -- getting off the ball fast is what it's all about.
Hope this helps!

he was actually giving you the best advice if you answered the question. A truly good 50+ player usually sucks for the first 30-40 levels because they are so unbalanced as its all about cap building and maximizing level gains.

My DT in pre season game #1 was a 255-0 blowout. He had 50 hurries and zero sacks, you get used to it.

peadawg:
Trash stats, apparently, are still allowed by Bort from time to time, maybe to throw DE owners some bone. But there are signs that these are nerfed from season to season.
Anyway, glad you had some successful seasons.

I agree - completely uncharacteristic for that to happen, but I looked across a number of high-level DE builds, and they have all had that one season of "insane-stats", glad mine helped us win gold.
