I've got a pure blocking TE (my first TE), and I need help choosing a custom SA for him. Any white knights out there?

There's a few options: Pummel, First Step, Balance, Strong Arm.

I'm down on strong arm since it only works for pass blocking. My TE's strength is pretty high, so balance may not be needed too much. First step seems pretty solid.

Pummel seems like the best to me, but does a player need to have a lot of points confidence for it to be effective?

You're right. I forgot about that.

There's no prerequisite level of confidence for it to be effective at any level.

Sweet, that'll probably be the one then. Thanks for the help.

Strong Arm gains a lot of value if you think about how your blocking TE will be utilized. If your OC will be super predictable and never leave a TE in to block than it's pointless. But as you get to the higher tiers, you need to be inventive on offense. Hence the need for something like strong arm that will make you a decent pass blocker.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I see your point, but in my case, my TE is a one dimensional blocker, so it wouldn't surprise anyone if he stayed in to block.

Yes but they would also be surprised if they sent the house for a power running play and your TE stayed in to block while the powerback and fullback went out for routes. etc etc etc.

I like what your saying Homage. We are only at lvl 27 now, but played last season as lvl 24 in a lvl 30 elite league. Our blocking TE was critical in passing plays to try and gain that extra 2 seconds needed to hold off the onslaught. To work any shotgun or single back passing plays, not to mention scat back plays, the TE will have to step up and be a wall.
