NAGA CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

2. NBA Jam (15-1) at 1. Saigon Whores (15-1)
lolbar matchup: http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=4982&team2=1659

First Round Results: Saigon 129, Bali 0; Jam 84, Penguins 17

Second Round Results: Saigon 33, Tibet 3; Jam 98, Monks 13

Previous meeting: Saigon 18, Jam 16 (Week 8)

Overview: The Jam and the Whores avoided any slip-ups to give Naga the championship matchup it expected all season long. The Jam have a lethal rushing attack and a very potent passing game, giving them a lot of options for attack. They've also shown the willingness to gamble by doing the unexpected in key games. The Whores offense is maybe a small step below the Jam, but their defense and special teams are a bit stronger. Saigon has given up a total of 3 points in two playoff games along with 162 points scored. NBA Jam, on the other hand, has given up a total of 30 points, but scored a whopping 182 (an average of 91 per game) in its two games.

Outlook: It's not a smart move to read too much into Saigon's 18-16 win earlier in the season. Nearly everyone in SEA Pro knew (even back in Week 8) that these two teams were probably headed for a collision course at some point in the playoffs, and both teams played it a bit coy. All in all, this looks to be a fairly even matchup on paper, and my wild guess is that if the game were played 100 times, Saigon would probably win about 53 of them. Neither team looks to have an exploitable weakness that the other team can take advantage of, so the end result will likely be determined by a combination of sim flukes and which team's coordinators guess right the most often.

Prediction: Saigon 24, NBA Jam 20

GARUDA CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

4. Tet Offensive (13-3) at 2. Krungthep Garudas (15-1)
lolbar matchup: http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=3119&team2=1600

First Round Results: Krungthep 51, Sweatshop 10; Tet 45, Buffalo 41

Second Round Results: Krungthep 38, Lucid 15; Tet 42, Bangalore 34

Previous meeting: Krungthep 43, Tet 7 (Week 11)

Overview: Will Tet be able to learn anything from Lucid's game against the Garudas? The Dream were able to slow down the Krungthep offense by forcing turnovers, but the Garudas still managed to put a nice 38-spot on the board and rack up a yardage disparity of more than 3-1. Even when the sim has turned on Krungthep, they still manage to look excellent. On the other hand, the offensive Tet squad has showed up for both games looking strong from the outset and then sealing the win by holding off a comeback attempt by their opponent in the fourth quarter. The big question mark for Tet is its defense, which gave up an average of 38 points in two playoff games, going against an offense that led SEA Pro with an average of more than 100 points per game.

Outlook: In the previous matchup, the Garudas dominated Tet in every aspect, winning time of possession by more than 30 minutes and notching 582 total yards compared to just 165 for Tet -- and the Offensive's three turnovers didn't help matters. Krungthep held Tet to just 15 rushing yards for an average of just 1.1 per carry. Regardless of how Tet tries to attack the Garudas' defense (which also led SEA Pro with only 6.8 points allowed per game), they will certainly have to find a way to improve that rushing average or they have no shot of winning this game. Krungthep needs to avoid another turnover disaster like they had in Round 2 because Tet won't be quite as forgiving with the offensive firepower they have.

Prediction: Krungthep 33, Tet 17

My record so far

Playoffs, Round 1: 5-3. I missed the DREAM's upset win over LSP and picked upsets that didn't happen in Tibet over Palembang, and Buffalo over Tet.

Playoffs, Round 2: 4-0: Tet made me look good with their upset of Bangalore and the other three were fairly easy to predict -- no offense intended to the teams they played. Saigon, Jam and Krungthep are just a rung above everyone else in the league right now.

Nope, don't mind at all

I always assume anything I write about any team might end up in team forums, even if it's just for bulletin board material
