WESTERN CONFERENCE:

1. Cincinnati Shockers vs. 8. Chicago Beasts

A recap of their last meeting:
Well not much to recap in this one; it was all Shockers all day! A field goal in the 1st quarter and 69 yards off offense is all the Beasts were able to put up against this former World League team. That’s saying a lot for the Shockers defense as the Beasts have shown they can put up numbers.

Most notable was of course the Shocker’s stud Ace Flame as he poured on 231 yards on the ground with 6 touchdowns including this monster run to start the game off: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1016677&pbp_id=13808023 It’s like a hot knife through butter as the Beasts D just watched him walk right in.

Jon’s take on the game:
The Beasts have had a good first season in the Pros and shown they belong. A few mistakes here and there and some growth to go through still, but they’ll be back strong as ever next season. As for this game I just don’t see the Beasts having an answer for the Shockers.

I have the Shockers on auto pilot for this game as the walk through the first round. Shockers win 55-17

4. Ketchikan Kamper Adventure Rentals vs. 5. Mentone Beach Assault

A recap of their last meeting:
Good god who are the DCs of these teams? Last matchup was an OCs dream; pure offense all day as both teams racked up more than 600 yards a piece. The game came down to who had the ball last and the coin flip went to the Assault.

The Assault started off the TD fest with this strike from Bradee Quinn: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1016699&pbp_id=4969093 not a bad start and a common score for this game too. KKAR kept up with the Assault and Over You I Go had a great run here: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1016699&pbp_id=4971821 .

Jon’s take on the game:
This is the Assault’s first season in the Pros and I’m impressed with how well they did, but I just think they’re luck has run out. Being matched up against an experienced KKAR isn’t going to be a good first experience in the playoffs for them; not to mention the Assault’s history of poor performance in post season play; KKAR should move on to the next round.

I see the KKAR taking down the Assault in another close matchup, but this time the DCs show up. KKAR win 35-24.

2. Monmouth Evil Monkeys vs. 7. Northwest Nighthawks

A recap of their last meeting:
This game was all MEM until the 4th quarter as the Nighthawks woke up and put up 16 points, but it was way too late to start a rally. Especially after MEM put up 21 points in the 1st quarter with an impressive 200 yards off offense mainly coming from the arm of Brady Montana. MEM never looked over their shoulder, but really seemed to slow up.

One of the most notable plays has to be the great TD pass from Bernie Dorsey to the wide open Marvin Jones Jr. http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1016715&pbp_id=7649960 although MEM’s only score in the 4th quarter wasn’t bad either: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1016715&pbp_id=7650907

Jon’s take on the game:
MEM is just on a high right now just rolling teams and I have a hard time thinking that the Nighthawks will be able to keep up with them. It really seemed like MEM put on the brakes in their last matchup and they really could have done more damage.

I see MEM continue on in their dominance and roll right through the first round with little trouble. Monkeys win 57-23.

3. Bortsville Mystery Nerf vs. 6. New Jersey Battalion

A recap of their last meeting:
I’m not sure the Battalion got the memo there was a game! Bortsville brought the heat and just ran all over the Battalion including putting up 38 points in the 4th quarter alone. With almost 400 yards on the ground, the Battalion defense was just out played.

Just 2 plays into the game, the Battalion had to know it was going to be a long day: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1016625&pbp_id=13796742 A tough game for Kar Fai as most of the game for him looked like this: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1016625&pbp_id=13804447

Jon’s take on the game:
I really wanted to take the upset here and talk about how the Battalion is back and ready to make their move towards joining the World League, but after looking at their last matchup; I can’t see that happening. I don’t think Bortsville will abuse the Battalion that bad again, but they should walk away with the win.

I see Bortsville pouring on another win and getting ready for round 2. Mystery Nerf win 55-27.

EASTERN CONFERENCE:

1. Minneapolis Masterminds vs. 8. Czech Yourself

A recap of their last meeting:
Well the Czech did manage to keep Professor X under 400 yards of rushing so that was a good start; actually they did a pretty good job of not getting completely destroyed like other teams did. They went all ground attack and were only able to put up 139 yards of offense as the Masterminds just rolled on.

I could put up all sorts of Professor X highlights here, but really; I think we’ve all already seen what he does.

Jon’s take on the game:
Ummmm it’s the Masterminds; move on.

I see this game ended like they all have. Masterminds win 90-0.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4. All The King's Men vs. 5. Grand Haven Mist
A recap of their last meeting:
This was a great game; if you’re a fan off the Mist. No matter what ATKM did it seemed like the Mist scored from every angle of the game. Interception returns, kick off returns fumbles, punt return fumbles, and rushing TDs. The Mist was everywhere out there and all over everything ATKM did. Still ATKM was able to move the ball and stop some of the Mist’s attack.
Just great blocking here as ATKM continued to fight their way back into the game: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1016751&pbp_id=5875297 I’m sure the OC was screaming at this play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1016751&pbp_id=5868589
Jon’s take on the game:
ATKM made a lot of mistakes and the Mist capitalized on each of them, but ATKM still looked very solid and fought their way back. Take away those mistakes and I think we’ve got a different game. I see just that happening this time around.
I see ATKM fixing some of their earlier issues and rev up for a monster showdown. ATKM win 28-23.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

2. Alpine Golfers vs. 7. Atlanta Purple Penguins

A recap of their last meeting:
It could be that the Penguins knew they would have to face off with the Golfers in the 1st round so they took the day off to rest. Kenny Chandler still was able to put up 258 yards of offense for the Penguins, but it only added up to 6 sacks and 3 interceptions.

Just watch Anus Jackson work his magic: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1016818&pbp_id=17322810 pretty! "Big" Sweat had a big day and closes out the game with this: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1016818&pbp_id=17323307

Jon’s take on the game:
The Golfers have a mission and its returning to the World League; they’re not about to let APP stand in their way. I don’t see this game being much different than last week.

I see the Golfers move on to the next round quicker than Tiger Woods backing out of a driveway. Golfers win 63-6.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3. Louisville Baby Kittens vs. 6. Tennessee Outlaws
A recap of their last meeting:
Tennessee did everything they could to win this game and they came very close. They outgained the Kittens and won the time of possession battle, but still couldn’t finish off the Kittens. Louisville’s 2 TDs to start off the game was all they needed for this win. Could it be that the Outlaws are just this good or did the Kittens look past the Outlaws?
A great pass by Dangerous Kitten for the first TD of the game: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1016736&pbp_id=5864310 and really no other highlights to speak of.
Jon’s take on the game:
This is going to be my upset, the Outlaws have everything to prove with this game and they’ve done a great job making the playoffs after a horrible start to the season with a tie. They did a great job in this matchup and showed they could stay with the Kittens; it’s just going to take some mistake free football.
I see the Outlaws pulling out a late victory here in overtime. Outlaws win 24-21.
Jp's the best imo.
Btw, in the west (since the stupid east doesn't matter) the winners will be...
Cincy, Kampers, MEM, NJB. Book it imo.
Does east vs west work against the Shockers (Shockers played several seasons in the East)
Oh now wait one cotton picking minute. You meant 17 points in one game, not over the course of a lifetime? Dammit Jim, I am a Doctor not a game planner!
