Unlike the East, not all of the playoff teams have been decided. North Delta and Windsor have a lot riding on their respective Week 16 games...
...here's a look at the playoff seeding based on my take on how this coming week's games will play out.
1) Queensland Exiles (16-0) • Should wrap up an undefeated regular season with a win over North Delta, would still retain the #1 seed if they somehow lost.
2) Saskatoon Silverbacks (14-2) • Face the CPU Thunder Bay Bloodhounds, a game they can't lose. Hold the tiebreaker over Moose Jaw by virtue of their head-to-head win.
3) Moose Jaw Roughriders (14-2) • Face the non-CPU team from Thunder Bay. Even if the Wolverines pull off the upset, they won the head-to-head match-up against Kansas City so they're a lock for the three seed.
4) Kansas City Gorillas (13-3) • They'll (again) have the Week 16 Game of the Week, this time against the Winnipeg Warriors who currently sit in the #5 spot. If Kansas City wins this game they'll grab hold of the final playoff home-game and likely face the St. John's Salty Dogs in Round #1. However, if they lose to Winnipeg they won't have to wait long to avenge their loss as the Warriors would be their opponent in the playoff's first round.
5) St. John's Salty Dogs (11-5) • It's hard to expect they'll lose against the 3-12 Nebraska Husker Maniacs, but who knows what IlligINC may pull out for this game. Assuming a win in Week 16, the Salty Dogs will lay claim to the #5 seed by virtue of their head-to-head victory over Winnipeg a few weeks back.
6) Winnipeg Warriors (11-5) • As stated above, a win against Kansas City moves them out of the #6 seed and up to the #4 seed. Win or lose, they'll finish no higher than fourth and no lower than sixth.
7) Thunder Bay Wolverines (9-7) • An impressive team that just couldn't quite knock off any of the top seeds they've played so far. It's hard to imagine they'll beat Moose Jaw, but if they do and St. John's loses to Nebraska...they could finish as high as sixth, dropping the Salty Dogs into seventh. Either way, they're guaranteed a playoff spot.
8) Windsor Walruses (8-8) • A big, big game looming for them in Week 16 against the Moncton Mosquitos. If they win they'll improve their record to 8-8 and hold the edge against North Delta by virtue of their head-to-head win. Two things must happen for them to make the playoffs...they can control one of them. First, win. Second, hope that Queensland pursues perfection and doesn't trip up against North Delta somehow.
9) North Delta Huskies • This is the last team in control of their own destiny (in terms of making the playoffs or not). If they pull of the "Miracle on the dotball field" going up against Queensland's 35-game winning streak...well, then they make the playoffs. Assuming they lose, then they have to hope for Moncton to beat Windsor...otherwise their playoffs are done.
